Justice for SPC Bruce Dunphy — Reform VA Healthcare for the GWOT Generation
The Issue
My name is Erica Bradley, and I’m the proud sister of SPC Bruce Andrew Dunphy, a U.S. Army Veteran who served our nation with courage, compassion, and honor.
Bruce completed over 300 missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, standing shoulder to shoulder with his brothers and sisters in arms.
He came home carrying invisible wounds — the weight of war, the pain of loss, and the hope that his country would be there for him as he had been for us.
But when Bruce needed help, the system failed him.
The VA healthcare system — the same one meant to protect and heal our heroes — left him isolated, overmedicated, and unheard.
He reached out for help and was met with silence. His crisis calls went unanswered. His transportation to treatment was canceled.
In August 2025, my brother took his own life — another one of the 22 veterans who die by suicide every day.
No family should ever feel this pain again.
No soldier should ever come home and feel abandoned by the country they fought for.
