To the UN-OHCHR: Justice for Shireen Abu Aqleh & Palestine
Why this petition matters
Prominent Al-Jazeera Palestinian-American Journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh was assassinated by an israeli sniper/gunmen in cold blood this morning while wearing her 'press' vest and helmet (identifying her as a journalist) during an israeli invasion in Jenin Refugee Camp this morning.
Amidst such sadness and grief, and in remembrance of the legacy she has left behind, we hope that Shireen's death will atleast serve as a further stepping stone to achieving justice for the Palestinian people who have endured the horrors of brutal military occupation, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, persecution, and incremental genocide for the past 74+ years in Palestine
Please sign this petition to call on the Office of the UN High Commission for Human Rights (OHCHR) to demand international condemnation and immediate global action by all members of the UN to hold israel accountable for their war crimes and crimes against humanity that have been committed continuously in Palestine for over 74 years. This includes calls for israel to be prosecuted in the International Criminal Court, as well as immediate sanctions, divestments, and boycotts imposed on israel by every member of the UN.

Shireen Abu Aqleh, a 25 year Palestinian veteran of Al Jazeera Arabic, known for her coverage of the 2nd Intifada, israeli attacks on Gaza, and daily israeli war crimes/crimes against humanity, was with a team of journalists covering an israeli invasion into Jenin Refugee Camp when she and a fellow Quds News journalist Ali Al-Samudi were both shot at by israeli sniper(s) during a time where no Palestinian resistance fighters were present, and no gunbattle had taken place. Some of the journalists who confidently told the account of what happened, insisted it was a cold blooded and intentional shot at the journalists. Ali Al-Samudi was hit by live fire in the upper left back when they heard Shireen yell that Ali was hit. Seconds later she was shot in the head just under the ear and into the face, after 10 minutes whereby the journalists had identified themselves as journalists to everyonein the area, including the israeli army who fired the shots. As a Palestinian man and the journalists attempted to rescue Shireen, the snipers/gunmen continued shooting.
Ahmed Al-Husari, who's house was the target of the israeli invasion into the refugee camp of Jenin, explained that his home was ravaged with bullet holes and broken glass, but at the time of the journalists death, there were no Palestinian resistance fighters present defending the refugee camp from the israeli assault.
In the wake of accusations by "israel" claiming that it appears a Palestinian had killed Abu-Aqlah (which was proven to be false), the israeli accusations linked to the journalist's assassination were immediately debunked by eye-witnesses as well as a field researcher with B'Tselem (an israeli human rights NGO), who provided a video and map proving that the Palestinians in the video who appear to have wounded a soldier, were not the ones who shot at the journalists. ElintNews also geo-located the videos showing further proof that this murder was not a result of Palestinian crossfire.
This is not an isolated case, "israel" has been recurringly targeting journalists and media who expose israeli crimes. Since the year 2000 alone, atleast 50 journalists have been murdered by israeli forces, 6 just in the past couple of years. Whether it be today's assassination, the bombing of the Gaza tower housing Al Jazeera, AP, and local media offices, or the 2 Palestinian journalists killed in cold blood during the 2018 Great March of Return, "israel's" suppression of the truth and their impunity is something WE MUST put an end to!
These. Are. WAR CRIMES.

Only kilometers away during the same morning, Thaer Yazouri, murdered 18 year old Palestinian shot in the heart during an israeli attack this morning in his village in the occupied-Palestine West Bank village of Al Berih. The reason for his death, well he was throwing rocks (along with other Palestinian youth) at military vehicles and armoured israeli personnel who were invading their village. The same organization ("israel") that has shown time and time again that their impunity with regards to brutalizing Palestinian lives is something we can only acredit to international enabling of such war crimes. Much of the international community is just as responsible!
This does not include the reports of other innocent Palestinians that were assaulted/injured/their basic human rights taken away from them today, in recent days, or in the past 74+ YEARS.
Sadly this is not an isolated case, a Palestinian child is murdered on average once every 3 days at the hands of the israeli regime (actual average between 2000-2013), and that's not included Palestinian adults, who are murdered far more often on average. And if they are not killed, they are kidnapped and subjected to torture, approximately 2 Palestinian children are arrested unlawfully per day (on average) by israeli authorities (80% of whom are subjected to physical assault/torture, approx. 47% denied access to lawyer, and virtually all are tried in israeli military court), and that's not to mention the Palestinian adults kidnapped and subjected to torture.
I wish we could honour every innocent suffering soul around the world, and I wish we could honour every innocent soul killed or affected by israeli terror, but that would be next to impossible, considering the volume of terror "israel" imposes on a daily basis, and the amount of grief in this world. There is so much more we can say here, but let's leave it at that. Remember, justice for Palestine is a stepping stone towards justice for all the oppressed, period!
May Allah ﷻ (God) grant all their innocent souls (and any innocent soul suffering from this settler-colonial & military occupation project) and all innocent good souls around the word with the highest of degrees in Paradise.
The goal: to see the israeli apartheid, illegal occupation, sieges, settler-colonialist system (in Palestine, the Syrian Golan Heights, and else-where) dismantled, and all Palestinian refugees (as per UN Resolution 194) allowed a full & compensated return to their homelands and properties. Justice is the way to peace, and this is how Muslims, Jews, Christians, Druze, (etc), whether Palestinian, Israeli, (etc) will be able to live in one democratic country in the land of Palestine, where all it's citizens are granted equal human rights from the river to the sea.
Remember, what has been ongoing in Palestine for over 74 years is not a "conflict", it is a case of oppressor vs. oppressed, a colonial nuclear-superpower vs. an indigenous population defending their basic human rights.
