Justice for Sheridan Gorman: End Illinois Sanctuary Policies and Hold Leadership Accountable
Petition to the Illinois General Assembly
Sheridan Gorman was 18 years old. She should still be here.
Her death has shaken communities across Illinois and raised serious questions about the policies that allowed this tragedy to happen.
This is not just about one case. It is about a system.
Illinois’ sanctuary policies have limited cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. These policies have been defended and expanded by state leadership, including Governor JB Pritzker.
When policies restrict law enforcement and contribute to preventable tragedies, they must be reexamined and changed.
We, the undersigned, call for the following:
1. End or reform Illinois sanctuary policies that put public safety at risk
Public safety must come first. Laws should empower law enforcement to act in the best interest of the communities they serve.
2. A full and transparent review of the circumstances surrounding Sheridan Gorman’s death
The public deserves clear answers about what happened and whether policy decisions played a role.
3. Accountability at the highest level, including an impeachment inquiry into Governor JB Pritzker
If leadership decisions contributed to conditions that led to this tragedy, those decisions must be investigated.
This petition is not about politics.
It is about safety.
It is about accountability.
It is about making sure no other family has to experience a loss like this again.
Sheridan Gorman should still be here.
If we do nothing, we accept that tragedies like this can happen again.
We refuse to accept that.
Sign this petition to demand change, accountability, and safer communities in Illinois.
