The Issue

Sayieed Baksh, a 25-year-old father and community pillar, was killed at Eclipse Bar on April 19, 2026. His family grieves while the accused walks free on $500K bail. The crime scene was allegedly tampered with, police communication absent, and investigations incomplete. Sayieed's life mattered—demand justice!

We, the undersigned, join the Baksh family and The 592 Guardian in calling on Guyana Police Force and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to fulfill their mandate:

**To Guyana Police Force:**
- Re-examine the Eclipse Bar crime scene with full forensics, addressing tampering claims per SOPs.
- Interview witnesses, staff, neighbors; secure all CCTV footage.
- Charge bar owners/staff for evidence interference and premises security failures (concealed weapon entry).
- Communicate transparently with family; issue public update.

**To DPP:**
- Review manslaughter charge for upgrade to murder (concealed weapon evidence).
- Reassess bail for remand in violent cases, prioritizing victims and public safety.

LETTER FROM SISTER —To The 592 Guardian

Dear Newsdesk,

My name Adriana Baksh and I’m writing about my brother, Sayieed Baksh, who was killed last Saturday night at Eclipse Bar

Sayieed was only 25 years old.He was a very hard-working, joyful person who was always willing to help anyone, even if he was tired. That’s who he was — the person you could call at any time, and he’d show up. He left behind a family that loved him deeply including his  14 months old son and a community that respected him.

A person has been charged in connection with Sayieed’s death and was granted bail for $500,000. That person is currently free while we are grieving and preparing to bury my brother, is that how this country value people life for $500,000.As a family, we are devastated. We are struggling to understand how a life can be taken, yet the accused is back in the community before we’ve even had the funeral.

We are speaking out because Sayieed’s life mattered. We want justice for him, and we want the public to know who we lost. We are asking for a fair and transparent legal process, and for the courts to consider the impact on victims’ families when making bail decisions in violent cases.

Sayieed helped everyone. Now we are asking for help to get justice for him.

Matter was reported at Leonora police station but they only turn up when they heard of the victim death. Club members wash his blood out and the party continue so just to show the respect we have for people life these days.
He is gone but justice must be prevailed.
