The Issue

On 25 June 2026, at around 6:30 AM, Sarthak Mattoo left home for work, just as he had countless mornings before. He never made it back.

Only two days before his birthday, the only son of an elderly couple was killed in a horrific hit-and-run in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. In a single moment, a family lost their entire world.

Sarthak wasn't speeding. He wasn't breaking the law. He was simply on his way to work, wearing a helmet, when he was allegedly struck by a speeding Mahindra Thar, driven recklessly by Apurv Singh.

What happened next is even more devastating.

Instead of stopping to help the man whose life he had shattered, the driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving Sarthak behind. The accused remained untraceable for days and was subjected to an alcohol test only three days later, far too late to establish whether he had been under the influence at the time of the crash. Despite causing the loss of an innocent life in such a gruesome manner, he was released on bail the next day.

Sarthak was so much more than another road accident statistic. He was a gifted theatre artist who poured his heart into every performance and also led a team at an event management company. He was a loving son who was the centre of his parents' lives. He was a loyal friend whose warmth, laughter, and kindness touched everyone who knew him. He had dreams, plans, and a future that was cruelly taken away in seconds.

Today, his parents are not preparing for their only son's birthday. They are mourning him.

No mother or father should have to mourn their child because someone chose reckless speed over human life. No family should have to fight for justice after suffering such an unimaginable loss.
Yet this tragedy is not an isolated incident.
Every year, countless lives are lost because of speeding and reckless driving. When those responsible are not held accountable swiftly and fairly, it sends a dangerous message, that human life is secondary and that reckless drivers can escape the consequences of their actions.

We refuse to let Sarthak become just another forgotten headline.

We urge the authorities and the judicial system to ensure a swift, fair, and transparent investigation and prosecution. Justice delayed is justice denied, not only for Sarthak, but for every victim of reckless driving and every family left behind.

By signing this petition, you are standing with Sarthak's grieving parents, his friends, and everyone who believes that a life cannot simply be erased without accountability.

Please add your name. Share this petition. Demand justice.

Because Sarthak deserved to celebrate his birthday.

Because his parents deserved to see their only son come home.

Because no one else should have to endure this heartbreak.

Justice for Sarthak Mattoo. Accountability for reckless driving. Safer roads for everyone.
