JUSTICE FOR RHAM WRESTLING
The Issue
On Saturday night, Connecticut held it's State wrestling championships. RHAM wresting coach, Ryan Fitch, has been working 20 years for a team championship and needed a pin from his 195lb. wrestler to achieve this feat. You guessed it, RHAM got the pin and won the State Championship!!! BUT, as they gathered to celebrate in the overcrowded gym, the referee walked over to the crowd and saw a teammate of the wrestler with his straps of his uniform off his shoulders. For a reason that has never been explained, the referee decided to deduct a team point from RHAM for "unsportsmanlike conduct" for straps not on the shoulders. That point made RHAM lose the championship they have been chasing for 20 years!
We are asking the governing body here in Connecticut, CIAC, to do the right thing and overturn the unsportsmanlike conduct as it was not warranted or even a direct interpretation of the rule. Please sign this petition as we are looking to show the CIAC how many of you, die hard, wrestling fans think RHAM should be awarded the State Championship!
