Justice for Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp

Justice for Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp
The Issue
Justice for REV. FR. DANIEL ADAYI CSSp
To: His Eminence Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster
Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp was the beloved Parish Priest of Saint Michael and Saint Martin Roman Catholic Church Hounslow until he was moved at short notice in September 2023 as a result of the turbulence caused by a small minority of parishioners.
This small minority of parishioners made several false allegations and repeatedly complained to higher clerical authorities about Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp mandated leadership of this very large and multicultural parish as he identified and courageously tackled issues he inherited in September 2022, relating to safeguarding, financial accountability, bullying, racial bias, and exclusivity.
We the undersigned who have met, worked alongside, and been pastored by this good shepherd CALL for the IMMEDIATE REINSTATEMENT of Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp as the Parish Priest of Saint Michael and Saint Martin Roman Catholic Church, Hounslow.
We the undersigned also dually CALL for his reputation to be restored and for his good name to be CLEARED of all false allegations made against him by the small minority of parishioners who have also been responsible for the untimely departure and unjust treatment of past parish clergy.
If immediate action is not taken, it is predictable that this conduct will persist leading to further instability in our parish.
We wish to draw attention to what we believe is an injury and injustice to Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp good name (Ref. Canon 212.2-3, 213 & 220).
The false allegations were never transparently investigated.
The false allegations do not represent the lived experiences of the majority of parishioners, neither do they represent the experiences of the majority of people inside and outside the church, who know or have met Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp.
The lived experiences of the majority of parishioners and of others who have been blessed and served by Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp is that he is firm, cares deeply for the wellbeing of all his parishioners and people in general – irrespective of their ethnicity.
Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp is selfless, accessible, inclusive, and extremely attentive to the sick and homebound and the marginalised of our parish – a living example of Synodality.
Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp is a visionary as well as a strong and certain preacher of the Word of God and dispenser of the Sacraments.
Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp lives out the Gospel values of justice, peace, truth, unity, humility, and love.
We understand and accept that a religious can be moved at any point (even without needing to resign). It is the unjust circumstances that led to Rev. Fr. Daniel Adayi CSSp sudden departure that underpins our calls for justice. The stability of our parish is at stake!
We implore Your Eminence to listen and respond to our pleas which are much more than mere ‘sentiments and goodwill.’ God Bless You!
