Justice for Professor Sandra Sellers

Justice for Professor Sandra Sellers
Das Problem
It is dismaying that Georgetown University chose to terminate Professor Sandra Sellers.
As an objective student who watched the brief 44-second clip which features Mr. Batson and Professor Sellers, I did not find the content to be reprehensible in any way. Many others surely feel the same.
Professor Sellers merely voiced her concern about there being underperforming African-American students in her course.
Although she does not explicitly touch on the topic in the video, her "angst" can be interpreted as stemming from her worry that the issue of underperforming students will eventually surface and result in ramifications for herself, as she is the one who must assign grades that are commensurate with the student's performance. This in turn will lead to the student, who is unsatisfied with his/her grade, to imply that they only received this grade based on their skin color.
It would have been wise for Georgetown to evaluate the situation for what it really is---an exchange between two faculty members, in which there is not a trace of racism to be heard.
However, for those individuals who examine every piece of communication while wearing a figurative lens searching for a racist motive, they will find it here alone due to the fact that the word "black" was uttered during the course of communication in the video.
Georgetown University is setting a negative precedent with the termination of Prof. Sellers amid comments that have blown a conversation out of proportion.
The University is only serving to add fuel to the fire of the "cancel culture" that is raging at this point in time and it is disheartening when one must assume that other institutions will probably follow suit and strip dedicated teachers of their livelihood so that the university can prove to the world that they are on board with a movement that apparently precipitates finger-pointing and petty accusations.
Students should receive grades that reflect their performance. No students, regardless of ethnicity, religion, etc. should receive preferential treatment.
Professor Seller's only mistake was to express her concern about black students not making the grade.
It is particularly disheartening to see that she was left in the lurch and did not receive any support from her employer.
It would be gravely unjust to continue on this path of fighting a "perceived injustice" with more injustice.
Please sign this petition to reinstate Professor Sellers.
