I am a firsthand victim of the systemic issues plaguing the Mifflin County Children & Youth Services (CYS). For over a year, my almost 3-year-old daughter has been held by CYS, and our family has been caught in a nightmarish loop of bureaucratic manipulation. Instead of reunifying us, as their mandate dictates, they are driving a wedge between my daughter and me, ostensibly for funding gains.

Since December 2024, I have been subjected to repetitive parenting sessions that offer no new material, merely prolonging the process and keeping us trapped. These sessions serve as manipulation tactics rather than genuine help, breaking the bond between my daughter and I by limiting our physical contact and involvement. My constitutional rights are perpetually violated. That November, the morning of the 6th, I had Nyxie at her dad's house. Parole showed up at 9am for me, I gave Nyxie to her dad because I have no family capable. Nyxie was taken by Mifflin County CYS I had to go to prison for a 6 month parole hit. That stemmed from an assault on me by my daughter's father's ex-wife. She attacked me and attempted to kidnap my child and force me off the property, where I was already fighting the father to leave. There are a handful of witnesses to this, yet no one brought the real perpetrator to justice. I have since completed State Parole. I was released May 6th 2025. My daughter was supposed to come home to me shortly thereafter. Legally, CYS did not remove Nyxie from my care or our home. My daughter was taken from her father & from his home, yet I'm the one fighting for my full custody back. This ordeal is not just emotionally exhausting but highlights a deeper corruption within the system intended to protect families, not tear them apart. 

Statistics and testimonies from other affected families reveal that our case is not an isolated one. The families in Mifflin County are subject to a system that prioritizes financial gain over the welfare and reunification of children and their parents. Investigative reports and public records demand scrutiny and a call for transparency and accountability.

To address this widespread issue, we must advocate for a complete overhaul of Mifflin County CYS. This involves reallocating funds, enforcing clear and transparent guidelines, and implementing third-party oversight to ensure children and parents are treated with dignity and respect. Those involved in unethical practices should be held accountable to prevent future occurrences of such corruption and fraud.
