On 21 May 2026, 29-year-old Nishant Gautam lost his life at the swimming pool of the Sports University of Haryana, Rai, Sonipat.
21 मई 2026 को 29 वर्षीय निशांत गौतम की Sports University of Haryana, Rai, Sonipat के swimming pool में मौत हो गई।
Nishant was not just a student. He was a husband, a father to a 3-year-old son, and was soon going to become a father again. He was pursuing a PG Diploma in Cricket Coaching and was only two months away from completing his course.
निशांत सिर्फ़ एक student नहीं थे। वह एक पति, 3 साल के बेटे के पिता और जल्द ही दोबारा पिता बनने वाले थे। वह Cricket Coaching में PG Diploma कर रहे थे और अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी करने से सिर्फ़ दो महीने दूर थे।
That night, Nishant was found unconscious in the university swimming pool. He was taken to hospital and was later declared brought dead at Civil Hospital, Sonipat.
उस रात निशांत university के swimming pool में बेहोश पाए गए। उन्हें hospital ले जाया गया और बाद में Civil Hospital, Sonipat में brought dead घोषित किया गया।
The university called it an accident. But the official Post-Mortem Report did not determine the cause of death.
University ने इसे accident बताया। लेकिन official Post-Mortem Report में उनकी मौत का कारण निर्धारित नहीं किया गया।
The report records a 4 × 3.5 cm contusion on the forehead, a 6.5 × 6 cm subgaleal haematoma, and subarachnoid haemorrhage over the frontal lobe of the brain. Yet no official document has explained how this significant head injury occurred.
Post-Mortem में forehead पर 4 × 3.5 cm का contusion, उसके नीचे 6.5 × 6 cm का subgaleal haematoma और brain के frontal lobe पर subarachnoid haemorrhage दर्ज है। लेकिन आज तक किसी official document में यह नहीं बताया गया कि यह गंभीर head injury कैसे हुई।
And there are more unanswered questions.
और भी कई सवाल आज तक अनुत्तरित हैं।
The family's complaint was made on 22 May, but the FIR was registered only on 18 June — 28 days later. During this period, the university's CCTV recorder is said to have gone missing.
Family ने 22 मई को ही complaint दी थी, लेकिन FIR 18 जून को — 28 दिन बाद — दर्ज हुई। इसी दौरान university का CCTV recorder missing होने की बात सामने आती है।
The FIR records that a Special Enquiry Team found the death prima facie accidental, while the same document records that the FSL and histopathology reports had not yet been received and that the medical board had not certified a cause of death.
FIR में Special Enquiry Team ने death को prima facie accidental बताया, जबकि उसी document में यह भी दर्ज है कि FSL और histopathology reports अभी प्राप्त नहीं हुई थीं और medical board ने cause of death certify नहीं किया था।
More than three months later, the family is still waiting for the FSL, histopathology and diatom reports.
तीन महीने से अधिक समय बाद भी family FSL, histopathology और diatom reports का इंतज़ार कर रही है।
There are also unanswered questions about who was present at the pool, the conflicting accounts reported after the incident, the delay in rescue, the missing CCTV recorder, and the exact timeline of what happened that night.
Pool में उस रात कौन मौजूद था, अलग-अलग statements में contradictions क्यों थीं, rescue में कितना समय लगा, CCTV recorder कहाँ गया और उस रात वास्तव में क्या हुआ — इन सवालों के जवाब आज भी नहीं मिले हैं।
We Demand:

• An immediate, independent and transparent investigation into Nishant Gautam's death.
निशांत गौतम की मौत की तत्काल, निष्पक्ष और transparent investigation की जाए।
• The pending FSL, histopathology and diatom reports be produced and their delay explained.
सभी pending FSL, histopathology और diatom reports सामने लाई जाएँ और देरी का कारण बताया जाए।
• The CCTV recorder be recovered, or its disappearance be officially explained.
CCTV recorder को recover किया जाए या उसके गायब होने का official explanation दिया जाए।
• All persons present at the swimming pool that night, including the coaches, be properly examined and contradictions in their accounts be investigated.
उस रात swimming pool में मौजूद सभी लोगों, including दोनों coaches, के statements properly investigate किए जाएँ और contradictions की जाँच की जाए।
• The relevant hospital records and preserved samples be obtained and examined.
संबंधित hospital records और preserved samples को प्राप्त कर उनकी उचित जाँच की जाए।
• A supplementary medical opinion be obtained regarding the unexplained head injury and the interval between injury and death.
Unexplained head injury और injury से death के बीच के समय को लेकर medical board से supplementary opinion लिया जाए।
• The investigation be transferred to the State Crime Branch, Haryana Police, or another agency independent of the local establishment.
Investigation को State Crime Branch, Haryana Police या किसी अन्य independent agency को transfer किया जाए।
This petition is not about revenge. It is about truth, accountability and justice.
यह petition बदले के लिए नहीं है। यह सच, जवाबदेही और न्याय के लिए है।
We are not asking anyone to declare a person guilty without evidence. We are asking that the evidence be properly investigated before any conclusion is allowed to become the final truth.
हम किसी व्यक्ति को बिना सबूत दोषी ठहराने की माँग नहीं कर रहे। हम सिर्फ़ यह चाहते हैं कि किसी भी अंतिम निष्कर्ष से पहले सभी evidence की निष्पक्ष और पूरी जाँच हो।
Nishant cannot come back. His family cannot undo what happened.
निशांत वापस नहीं आ सकते। उनका परिवार जो हुआ उसे बदल नहीं सकता।
But we can make sure that his death does not disappear into unanswered questions.
लेकिन हम यह सुनिश्चित कर सकते हैं कि उनकी मौत अनुत्तरित सवालों के बीच दबकर न रह जाए।
