On April 3, 2025, the Pretoria High Court sentenced Hugo Ferreira to two life terms— one for the rape and another for the murder of his eight-day-old daughter. Judge Portia Dipuo Phahlane emphasized the extreme cruelty of the crime and determined that Ferreira showed no remorse and was unlikely to be rehabilitated. Additionally, his name will be added to the national registry of sex offenders.

There is no publicly available information indicating whether Hugo Ferreira will be eligible for parole. The Pretoria High Court has yet to announce his sentence.
