Justice for My 77-Year-Old Mother After a Failed $30K Dental Implant Procedure

Justice for My 77-Year-Old Mother After a Failed $30K Dental Implant Procedure
The Issue
My name is Tina B. Hill, and I’m writing on behalf of my 77-year-old mother, Betty — a sweet woman who worked for decades and simply wanted to enjoy her retirement. She paid $30,000 for dental implants, but was left in pain, with failing screws, missing bottom teeth, and no one willing to help.
She was promised full upper and lower implants. But the lower implants were never done, and the upper ones are now unstable and painful. She literally has to use her tongue to hold her teeth in place just to talk. Eating solid food is impossible. She often sleeps in a chair because lying down hurts her mouth. And now, no provider will help her because they “don’t want to fix another dentist’s work.”
The dentist who performed the original work has since retired. My mother was dismissed through a side door, told not to return. when she asked what was taking so long for the implants on one occasion or spoke up the Dentist would get upset making her feel uncomfortable. When we called her insurance, they said he wasn’t even in their network and that they had received multiple complaints about him.
My mom no longer smiles. She doesn’t go out. She doesn’t attend bingo or go shopping. She sits in silence, watching birds outside, because she’s embarrassed and in constant pain.
She worked for over 30 years for the Los Angeles Water Company, retired to enjoy life, Moved to Northern California to be around her grandkids and instead has lived with fear, humiliation, and pain for nearly 8 years.
The dentist responsible retired, and every agency we contacted — including the California Dental Board, Consumer Affairs, and the Attorney General’s Office — told us they couldn’t help.
That’s why we’re turning to you — the public — to help us fight for justice. Please share, sign, and support our call for accountability and healing.
That’s why we are now calling on:
Governor Gavin Newsom
California Dental Board
Senator Bill Dodd
Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry
And the public at large to demand answers, support, and justice.
She deserves to be seen.
She deserves to be heard.
She deserves to heal.
Please sign this petition to demand justice for my mother — and for every vulnerable elder who’s been abandoned by the very system meant to protect them.
