Thank you all for your continued support in signing and sharing the petition for Justice For Missing Child Oakley Carlson!

Light the Way Missing Persons Advocacy Project had the opportunity to speak and present this petition to the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families Oversight Board Committee Meeting this past Thursday afternoon. The committee includes Washington legislators, medical professionals, WA DCYF employees, foster care advocates and community members. Our goal for the meeting was to have 1,000 signatures and we proudly shared that at the time we spoke the petition had nearly 1,200 signatures asking Governor Jay Inslee to conduct an immediate secondary independent agency review of Oakley Carlson’s WA DCYF case. Thank you for being Oakley’s voice! When the meeting video is available we will share it for those interested in viewing.

In the last two days the petition has continued to grow and currently has 1,287 signatures, our next milestone is 1,500! In order for this to make a large impact and to get the Governor’s attention we need to continue our call for action! Please continue to SIGN and SHARE the petition below for #OakleyCarlson, the sweet little girl whose voice was tragically ripped away by the ADULTS whose job it was to protect her.

Below is a video of Oakley at just two-years-old using her OWN voice to advocate for herself to her loving parents the Hiles about the domestic violence she witnessed between her biological parents, Jordan Bowers and Andrew Carlson, while on a scheduled visitation. When the Hiles reported this to WA DCYF social worker, Angela Fries, she responded, “there were no concerns, and that Oakley loved her mom and dad”.

How was this never investigated by WA DCYF, knowing that this family had a history of physical and domestic violence? WA DCYF failed Oakley and it’s time for answers!

Oakley uses her own voice to advocate for her safety
