Justice for Mauritzio Marco Thornwall: Demand Accountability for a Homicide in Fed Custody

Justice for Mauritzio Marco Thornwall: Demand Accountability for a Homicide in Fed Custody
The Issue
My son, Mauritzio Marco Thornwall (October 18, 1995 – September 24, 2025), died while in federal custody at FCI Englewood in Colorado. His death has been officially ruled a homicide.
Despite this confirmed ruling, no one has been held accountable.
Families are told that their loved ones will be safe while in custody. Instead, we are left with unanswered questions, silence, and a confirmed homicide with no justice.
This raises serious concerns about what happened inside FCI Englewood—and whether those responsible, including correctional officers and medical staff on duty, are being fully investigated.
Correctional officers and medical staff have a legal duty of care to protect individuals in custody. When a homicide occurs under their watch, there must be transparency, accountability, and answers.
We are demanding:
A full, independent investigation into Mauritzio’s death
Immediate review of all correctional officers and staff on duty at the time
Release of all surveillance footage, incident reports, and internal communications
Accountability for any staff whose actions or inaction contributed to this homicide
Federal civil rights oversight to ensure transparency and justice
Silence is not acceptable.
Lack of transparency is not acceptable.
A confirmed homicide with no accountability is not acceptable.
No family should have to fight this hard for the truth.
If you can’t sign, please share. That alone means everything to me.
Thank you for standing with me and my son.

Stand with us. Demand answers. Demand accountability. Demand justice.
