Action: Animals in his "care" need to be removed immediately!!

Target: Vermont Dept. of Justice, Vermont District Attorney, Vermont Secretary of State. Lamoille County Court. 

July 14, 2025, Matthew Hill of Eden, VT, a town constable, dog control officer and longtime pig farmer, was caught on a neighbor’s surveillance system dragging a still alive pig, screaming and crying, for miles down a dirt road on his ATV, after having shot her several times, and then slit her throat and left her in the woods. Why? She got a little aggressive protecting her piglets. So, he tortured her. This poor Mama Pig.

This man is a disgrace to all farmers, all animal officers, and all constables in our small towns of Vermont.

Many of us from animal protection and rescue organizations are planning to attend every court date to ensure justice is served for this innocent, sweet mama Pig. No animal deserves torture or abuse, for any reason. Especially by someone who claims to be a farmer AND works for the town. 

He has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty on grounds of causing undue pain, as well as cruelty to animals on grounds of torture. He is free to walk around and harm more innocent beings. The town has only put him on leave; they haven't even fired him. Does the town somehow think this behavior is justified and will allow him to return to serving in these positions once the court is over?

We can NOT allow him to get a slap on the wrist. This is extremely cruel and sick behavior.

Please help us get justice for this poor Mama and her piglets that had to listen to their mom scream in pain and die a slow death for no reason except to be evil. If he would do this to his own farm animal, what would he do to anyone else? He is a danger to society and a disgrace to the state of Vermont and the human race as a whole.

The news stated that he could face up to 5 years in jail and/or a $5,000 fine; is that all her life is worth to the justice system? Like the news article says, he’s a farmer and knows how to kill humanely, but purposefully chose to be extra cruel and kill her just for her natural instincts of protecting her sweet little babies.

UPDATE #1

On Sept. 8th, 2025, Matthew Hill was not present for his status hearing at the Lamoille County Courthouse. Many of us drove from far away to only hear them say he's going to trial; there will be a status hearing in JUNE 2026!! Then picking jurors in JULY 2026! This is a common tactic used to prolong the case, inserting significant time gaps in the hope that people will forget. 

PLEASE, we cannot forget this poor mama, screaming for her life and for her babies, being dragged miles after being shot multiple times, and ultimately murdered after torture, all for protecting her babies! This is all captured on the neighbor's surveillance footage. This is NOT okay! We need to be this mama's voice. Animals are pure and innocent. 

He is trying to play the pity card and inviting people to see his farm. Saying he snapped when she was aggressive. You don't just wake up one day, at his age, and commit an extremely evil and vile act on an innocent animal. If he's been a farmer all of his life, how many times has this happened? This CAN'T be the first time; it's not the first time.

He should NOT have animals; we need signatures and support to submit to the DA and SA and get those animals out and to a safe home. 

Please do some research on this evil "man," and I will share some when I have documentation, but apparently, he has a criminal record with numerous charges and multiple probation violations. I will work on getting records to share! PLEASE SHARE! PLEASE SIGN!!
