In April of 2011, a young man named Kirill Denyakin was slain by a rogue officer on the streets of Portsmouth, Virginia.

A Kazakhstan national, came to America on a student visa and worked diligently in the kitchen of a local hotel, working 40+hrs a week, trying to earn money to send home to his family. One night he came home, or at least to the place he was staying slightly inebriated after celebrating his version of Easter (being of orthodox Catholic faith, his holidays differed than the dates celebrated in America)

After being locked out, he knocked loudly to get his roommate to let him in, and a neighbor called the police to complain about the noise. Officer Steven D. Rankin arrived on the scene, and wound up shooting Kirill Denyakin 11 times, within 2 minutes off arriving.

Kirill was 145lbs soaking wet, a tall lanky kid, who was barely able to stand. His English was not great, and he had never had issues with anger or violence. Officer Rankin claims that Kirill 'charged' at him, and had his hands in his pockets thinking he was going for a gun.

The fact was Kirill was barely able to stand on his own, let alone run anywhere, and forensics showed that there were bullets in his hands showing he had his hands up, as well as the fact he was shot several times after his death.

The officer had prior connection with Kirill, one of his friends was dating Kirill's ex girlfriend. Said friend was overheard saying days before Kirill's death "That guy is going to get what's coming to him" after Kirill's attempt to reconcile with his ex.

Rankin's facebook showed not only racist iconography, showing a lynching of an african american with the caption "Mommy, can we go out and kill tonight?" but posts showing a personal collection of semi automatic weapons and rifles.

He was a rogue cop, and he killed a man in cold blood, however he still works for the Portsmouth City Police Department, in Portsmouth, VA. He still roams the streets free. He is a danger to the community at large and needs to be investigated and removed from duty.

a 25 year old man, innocent and sweet, is no longer here because someone saw him as just some foreign kid no one would miss A mother had to travel to a foreign land, where she spoke none of the language to see her son riddled with holes on a metal slab.

A younger brother will no longer be able to get advice and support from his older kin, a family is irrevocably torn apart, a community in two countries is shattered, all because of this horrible excuse for a person.

He managed to get around an investigation by his own corrupt police force (who's officers have been charged with sex trafficking, drugs, and child pornography.) and escaped a civil trial, by switching venues to another city and facing a jury that was not made up of the citizens that Rankin supposedly served 'with honor', nor those that lived in the community where those 11 shots rang out and stole the life of a decent, young man.

Help get his family peace and ask for an investigation of the Portsmouth Police Department, and Steven D. Rankin on a federal level.
