Dear Home Secretary,

Katniss Seleznev (aged 7) was killed whilst playing outside her home by a 14 year old youth riding a stolen trail bike illegally. This youth has subsequently been tried and sent down for a stretch of 5 years and 4 months.

 

The perpetrator clearly thought more about his own fate above that of the girl he rode into at 52 mph on the public highway.

>He stole a motorcycle 

>He rode dangerously and without regard

>He failed to stop at the scene of an accident 

> he rode without a license or insurance 

>He burned out the bike in an attempt to destroy evidence 

Baring in mind the above and understanding that a longer sentence will not bring back Katniss, We, the undersigned ask you to consider reviewing this sentence as a matter of urgency. Illegal trail bike riding is a blight on many estates in Walsall, but this sentence, which in the opinion of the signatories is unduly lenient, acts as no deterrent to illegal trail bike riders and is an insult to the family of the deceased.
