Justice for Karena McClerkin

Justice for Karena McClerkin
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are calling on the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to open a federal civil rights investigation into the handling of the case involving Karena McClerkin, an 18-year-old Black woman who disappeared from Kokomo, Indiana in October 2016 and was later found deceased.
On May 8, 2025, Flint Vincent Farmer was found not guilty of her murder. While he is currently facing obstruction of justice charges, serious concerns remain about how the investigation and trial were handled, and why others who were allegedly involved have not been charged.
Why This Matters:
• The case sat unresolved for years with little transparency.
• There are allegations that others helped hide Karena’s body and were not held accountable.
• The community believes that if Karena had been white, her case would have been handled more swiftly and seriously.
• We fear this is part of a larger pattern of injustice that demands federal review.
What We’re Asking For:
We respectfully request that the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice:
• Open a federal civil rights investigation into Karena McClerkin’s case
• Investigate whether her rights were violated and whether justice was fairly pursued
• Consider additional federal charges if obstruction, conspiracy, or civil rights violations occurred
• Ensure that every individual involved in covering up her death is held accountable
How You Can Help:
1. Sign and share this petition to help us gather national support
2. Submit your own civil rights complaint to the DOJ at:
https://civilrights.justice.gov/report/
(You don’t have to include your name or contact info—just screenshot your record number)
⸻Karena deserves justice. Her family deserves answers. We demand accountability.
