Justin Gold was wrongfully convicted after defending himself against a violent attack. Prosecutors suppressed key evidence, and law enforcement influence tainted his trial. We demand a new trial or immediate reconsideration of his sentence!

Petition Statement
Justin Gold should not be serving a life sentence for defending himself.

Justin was a bright college student at Auburn University, with a promising future. But when a longtime family friend, Antoine Depass, attacked him at his own home, Justin had no choice but to fight for his life.

Despite clear evidence of self-defense, Justin was wrongfully convicted of malice murder and sentenced to life without parole.
His trial was tainted by law enforcement bias, suppressed evidence, jury manipulation, and moreover ineffective legal representation —all of which violated his right to a fair trial.

We are calling on Georgia’s judicial system, the DeKalb County DA’s Office, and Governor Brian Kemp to grant Justin Gold a new trial or reconsideration of his sentence based on evidence that was never heard in court.

Why This Case is a Miscarriage of Justice:

✅ Self-Defense Ignored: Antoine Depass came to Justin’s home with a weapon and initiated the attack—but the jury was never presented with the full facts.

✅ Suppressed Evidence & Prosecutorial Misconduct: Prosecutors withheld forensic evidence that could have proven Justin’s innocence:

• No DNA testing was done on the alleged murder weapon to confirm who actually handled it.

• The jury never heard about Antoine’s history of violent behavior, which would have supported Justin’s self-defense claim.

✅ Law Enforcement Bias in the Courtroom: The victim’s sister was a police officer and sat in uniform inside the courtroom, influencing the jury.

✅ Jury Misconduct & Flawed Instructions: The jury asked for clarification on malice murder vs. voluntary manslaughter, but the judge refused to provide an explanation—leaving them to decide based on confusion, not the law.

What We Are Demanding

We, the undersigned, demand justice for Justin Gold and call on the Georgia judicial system to:
1️⃣ Grant an evidentiary hearing to allow new forensic evidence, police misconduct, and suppressed trial errors to be heard.
2️⃣ Order post-conviction discovery to obtain:

• DNA testing on the alleged murder weapon

• Blood analysis from the crime scene

• Internal law enforcement communications that may have influenced the trial

3️⃣ Overturn Justin Gold’s conviction or reduce his charge to voluntary manslaughter, in recognition that he was acting in self-defense.

4️⃣ Hold prosecutors accountable for failing to present all relevant evidence in his trial.
Why Your Signature Matters

This is not just about Justin—this is about a broken justice system that convicts innocent people without full evidence. If we allow wrongful convictions to go unchallenged, we are letting the system continue to fail young Black men like Justin, who are forced to fight for their lives and then punished for surviving.

Your voice can make a difference. By signing this petition, you are helping to demand fairness, accountability, and justice for a man who was robbed of his future.
Please sign and share this petition with your friends, family, and social networks. Together, we can bring Justin Gold home.
