PETITION FOR JUSTICE AND PROTECTION FOR A NINE-YEAR-OLD CHILD

Subject: Request for Accountability, Timely Court Proceedings, and Protection of a Nine-Year-Old Child

We, the undersigned, are asking for justice, accountability, and continued protection for a nine-year-old child who was subjected to severe and disturbing physical abuse by his mother.

The criminal case against the child’s mother is currently pending. However, she remains out of custody while the case proceeds, and court proceedings have repeatedly been postponed. This situation has been extremely difficult for the child and his family.

The child continues to ask when his mother will be held accountable for what happened to him. At only nine years old, he is being forced to live with uncertainty surrounding a case involving allegations of serious abuse against him.

We understand that the defendant is entitled to due process and that decisions regarding custody, court dates, and prosecution must follow the law. However, we respectfully ask that the authorities consider the safety, emotional well-being, and best interests of this child throughout the proceedings.

WE ARE ASKING FOR:

A timely and meaningful resolution of this case.
An explanation for repeated postponements of court proceedings, when legally appropriate.
Continued protection of the child from any further abuse, intimidation, harassment, or retaliation.
Appropriate consideration of the child’s safety and emotional well-being when making decisions concerning the defendant’s release and conditions.
Accountability under the law if the allegations are proven in court.
Appropriate support and resources for the child as he continues to deal with the trauma surrounding this case.

This petition is not intended to interfere with the defendant’s constitutional rights or the court’s authority. It is a plea from concerned family members, community members, and supporters asking that the child’s voice and safety not be forgotten while the criminal case moves forward.

A nine-year-old child should not have to repeatedly ask when justice will come.

We respectfully ask the District Attorney’s Office and appropriate authorities to take every lawful step available to protect this child, move the case forward in a timely manner, and ensure that his safety and well-being remain a priority.
