Justice for Jeyanthan Ramachandran: Demand Mandatory Whole-Life Sentences for Deliberate Knife Murders

Knife crime is destroying lives across the United Kingdom, and my family has now become part of a tragedy that no family should ever face.
Mr. Jeyanthan Ramachandran, a man in his 30s with dreams, plans and a loving family, was fatally stabbed inside the Vu Lounge on Bushey High Street, LONDON (United Kingdom). He died in hospital despite every effort to save him. His loss has left a hole in our family that will never be filled.

His life mattered. Every life lost to knife crime matters.

A National Emergency — and a Failing Justice System
Knife crime is spiralling. This is not fearmongering. This is reality:

Nearly 16,000 knife offences were recorded in London last year alone.
Around 53,000 knife or sharp-instrument offences were recorded across England and Wales.

Knife crime has risen by over 80% in the last decade.
Young men and teenagers are disproportionately affected—both as victims and perpetrators.

In many regions, knife-related homicide is now the leading cause of violent death among young people.

Yet despite this escalating violence, sentencing remains inconsistent and dangerously lenient. Even those who deliberately take a life with a knife can still be considered for parole or early release. Families receive life sentences of grief while offenders eventually walk free.

This is not justice.
This is not protection.
This is not acceptable.

What We Are Demanding
We call on The Right Honourable Chris Philp MP, the UK Government, and all Members of Parliament to take urgent action. Sentencing reforms cannot wait. Lives are at stake.

We demand:
1. Mandatory Whole-Life Orders
For all deliberate knife-enabled murders—no exceptions, no loopholes.

2. No Parole, No Release
If you take a life with intent, you should never regain your freedom.

3. Severe Penalties for Knife Possession in Violent Circumstances
Carrying a weapon in a threatening or high-risk situation must result in strict, consistent punishment.

The UK has full sovereign control over its criminal justice system. There are no external barriers only political will. The safety of the British public must come before everything else.

Why This Matters
When a knife enters someone’s flesh, it does not just cut a life short—it destroys a family, traumatises a community, and sends fear rippling through society.

A person who intentionally takes a life with a knife has committed the most brutal and final act imaginable.
The punishment must reflect that finality.

Jeyanthan will never come home.
He will never laugh again.
He will never grow old.
But the person who killed him could, under the current system, one day walk free.

That is why we are fighting.
