Justice for Jeremy Watkins – Stop MEP Abuse Against Disabled Canadians

The Issue

📣 My Story
My name is Jeremy David Watkins. I’m a 35‑year‑old disabled father from Truro, Nova Scotia. For years, I’ve faced homelessness, mental illness, and extreme poverty—not because of crime or negligence, but because the system meant to protect me stole my life instead.

In 2022, the Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) began garnishing over $1,100 per month from me—even though I was on income assistance, living in shelters, and surviving on less than $15,000 per year. Without notice, they took over $17,000—including my federally protected Disability Tax Credit—based not on what I earned, but on imputed income I never had.

🔍 What the System Ignored
I suffer from multiple serious disabilities, all medically documented:

ADHD
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
Severe Anxiety / PTSD
Asthma, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS)
A traumatic brain injury (2012)
Despite submitting tax statements, income assistance documents, and repeated notices of hardship, MEP refused to reassess my case. Instead, they used outdated court orders, revoked my driver’s license, and blocked me from seeing or supporting my children. I’ve lost housing, dignity, and the chance to be a father—all while fighting alone in self-represented court.

⚖️ My Rights Were Violated
The government's actions have trampled my fundamental rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms:

Section 7 – Life, Liberty, Security
I lost my home, freedom, mental health, and the ability to care for my children.
Section 15 – Equality Rights (Disability Discrimination)
I was punished for my disabilities—ignored, penalized, and forced into destitution, while able-bodied demands were enforced without mercy.
This is not just my story—it is a cry before others are crushed in silence.

💔 Why This Must End
Everyone deserves a chance. I’m not asking for handouts—I’m asking not to be punished for my disability.
Barter, trade, family— the foundations that have upheld societies for centuries. Yet the system ignored them while attacking my ability to survive.
You can’t survive justice if it costs you your life.

🛑 What I’m Demanding
By signing this petition, you help me call for:

Full reimbursement of the $17,000 that was wrongfully taken.
A fair reassessment of my child-support arrears based on actual income.
Investigation and accountability for MEP’s systemic abuse of disabled citizens.
Policy reforms to protect vulnerable Canadians from punishment when they can’t pay.
Recognition and apology from authorities for the trauma inflicted.

✊ Who We Are
We are parents, Canadians, justice seekers, and people who believe economic status, disability, or misfortune should never determine one’s right to dignity.

🔙 From the Creator, Jeremy Watkins
“Open your eyes. Money has destroyed us. Barter, trade, family—these built us. People like me shouldn’t be suffering. Let fathers be fathers. Stop stealing freedom. Everyone deserves a chance.”
