Justice for Jaylah: Hold Rockford Schools Accountable and Protect Children from Bullying

Justice for Jaylah: Hold Rockford Schools Accountable and Protect Children from Bullying
The Issue
Jaylah was an eleven-year-old girl from Rockford, Illinois whose life ended in tragedy after experiencing bullying.
For more than a year, her grandmother, Rhonda Trevino, has been trying to get answers about what happened and whether more could have been done to protect Jaylah. Letters have been sent to detectives, school officials, and education authorities asking for accountability and transparency.
Despite these efforts, there has been little response and no clear accountability.
Even more disturbing, the individual who bullied Jaylah continues to harass her memory and send threatening messages to others while the family feels that authorities have failed to act.
No child should ever feel so alone that they lose hope. No family should have to fight this hard just to be heard.
This petition calls for:
• A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jaylah’s death
• Accountability from Rockford Public Schools if policies failed to protect a student
• Stronger anti-bullying policies in schools across Illinois
• Nationwide efforts to strengthen protections for students facing bullying and harassment
Jaylah was only eleven years old. She deserved safety, support, and intervention from the adults responsible for protecting students.
Her life mattered. Her story should lead to real change.
We must demand accountability and ensure that schools across America take bullying seriously before another child is lost.
Sign this petition to stand for Jaylah and to protect children everywhere.
