The issue

On 2 November 1990, my grandmother Janie Perrin was brutally sexually assaulted and murdered in Bourke NSW.

Janie was a much loved mother, grandmother, family member and friend. She should have been safe in her own home.

Sadly, despite a $100,000 reward for information being in place for decades, her murder remains unsolved. This reward for information, whilst appreciated by our family, is inadequate and does not reflect the seriousness of this crime.

I am calling on the NSW Government, via the NSW Police Reward Evaluation Advisory Committee, to review the reward amount and increase it to $1,000,000.

A higher reward may encourage anyone with crucial information about my grandmother’s murder to come forward. It may just lead to the breakthrough that is needed to solve this case and remove a dangerous person from the community.

Our family is  committed to fighting for justice for our grandmother and for holding the person responsible accountable.

More than three decades have passed since she was violently taken from us. It is time to shine a spotlight on this case that feels largely forgotten.

No family should endure the uncertainty and grief we have faced, and no community should carry the burden of unsolved violence.

Please support us as we call for an increase in the reward for information relating to the unsolved murder of our beloved grandmother, Janie Perrin from $100,000 to $1,000,000.
