The Issue

No animal should ever experience what Doc the corgi went through.

In a disturbing video captured on a doorbell camera in South Pierce County, a man is seen picking up a small corgi and violently kneeing it and punching its head. The dog yelps in pain as the attack unfolds. The footage was heartbreaking, and it sparked immediate outrage from animal lovers across Washington.

Thanks to a brave neighbor who recorded and reported the abuse, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office launched an urgent investigation. The suspect, Luke McNeley, has now been charged with second-degree animal cruelty. Doc was seized by animal control, given pain medication, and is now safe in the care of the Humane Society.

But a charge alone is not justice.

We are calling on Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney Mary Robnett to pursue the maximum penalty allowable under Washington state law. There must be no leniency, no plea deals, and no dropped charges. Animal cruelty is a serious crime, and the message must be clear: If you hurt an animal, there will be consequences.

Doc may not have visible injuries, but the trauma he endured, and the fear he felt, matter deeply. Animals are not property. They are living beings who feel pain, trust, and fear.

The public is watching. This case matters not only for Doc, but for every animal who suffers behind closed doors. Holding abusers fully accountable helps protect all animals from future harm.

Sign now to demand full prosecution in this case. Doc deserves justice — and so do all animals who rely on us to protect them.
