There are over 1.5k people that go missing every day in the United States.

In most cases, having a good outcome in finding a missing person depends on how fast the search and investigation into their disappearance starts. Before a family member or friend reports a person missing, they have already exhausted their initial lead. They have done their due diligence before calling law enforcement for help.

I know because that's exactly what my family and I did when we first looked for Daniel. We checked everything for an explanation as to where he could have gone. After we exhausted our leads, I called law enforcement for help. Since we know Daniel's mannerisms, we couldn't assume he wanted to go missing or leave life as he knew it.

Law enforcement, the Buckeye Police Department, failed to act quickly when I first attempted to report him missing. Though it's against the policy, the Buckeye Police Department made me wait twelve hours before reporting Daniel missing. It was critical hours missed that could make the difference between life and death, whether he is found or not.

Because of this, I experience one of the most difficult things a Father must endure. While dealing with the loss, I had to start my investigation, search, and outreach by posting via flyers, social media, and outside agencies.

Searches by the Buckeye Police Department were not done with the urgency we needed in Daniel's case. There were very few resources used in their search and investigation. I had to go to the public to fund my search and outreach for Daniel. I searched for my son for over 48 weeks, clearing over 35k acres of land with my grassroots effort.

I was able to gain information and evidence that brings us closer to finding out what happened to Daniel. I provided law enforcement with these findings, but they were not followed up.

Because of my experience of having a missing son, I became passionate about helping other families not to go through what I've had to with law enforcement.

That's why I'm fighting for change in how law enforcement approach missing person cases, a department within the police department that handles all missing person cases. Especially in states that have high rates of missing person cases.

  • A family should never, ever be told to wait to report. We know when our loved ones are missing, it's not law enforcement's job to give their opinions. When there's evidence discovered that may hold answers to the case, law enforcement should not give evidence to the family to hold it in their private storage unit.
  • A family should not have to hire a Private Investigation because of the theory that law enforcement is given to a family in pain that defies logic and is given without evidence when law enforcement's detective tells the family why they see no reason to do a full workup of forensics at the scene of the possible crime.
  • A family should not have to go to the media to the public and threaten to protest to get law enforcement to treat their loved one's case with urgency to get movement.
  • A family should not have to provide evidence, solve other cases while searching for their loved one, or find human remains belonging to someone who also deserves justice.
  • A family should not have to have letter writing and mail-in protest just to get law enforcement to uphold their jurisdictional responsibilities.

I need you to please sign your voice to this petition if you agree with all the updates and stand by my efforts to find justice for my son, Geologist Daniel Cornelius Robinson.

Thank you, David Robinson II
