On November 18, 2021, I wrote a letter to Chie Larry Hall of the Buckeye Police Department requesting the FBI into my son's case.

Re: Case of Geologist Daniel Cornelius Robinson
Dear Chief Hall:
My name is David Robinson II, father of Geologist Daniel Cornelius Robinson, who is
missing and was last seen in your jurisdiction of the Buckeye, Arizona desert just off Sun Valley
Pkwy and Cactus Road. Daniel, a trained geologist, works for Matrix New World (Matrix
Southwest Groundwater) in Phoenix, Arizona. He was assigned to a project at a well in the
Buckeye desert and arrived at that location around 9:00 a.m. That was the last day that anyone
had seen or spoken with Daniel.
After my family and I reported Daniel was missing, Buckeye created a report about
Daniel’s disappearance. Based on information from Buckeye police department records, I was
told that the last person who saw my son and had any contact with him was Kenneth XXX.
Buckeye police department spoke with Mr. XXX, and after that conversation, the narrative that
developed about Daniel’s disappearance was framed around the statements and account of Mr.
XXX. According to Mr. XXX’s statement, Daniel drove off into the desert on June 23, 2021.
Since then, Daniel has not been seen or heard from, and he has been missing under suspicious
circumstances for nearly five months. Your interview with CNN affirms the circumstances
surrounding Daniel’s disappearance are suspicious.
Based on Mr. XXX’s statement, the Buckeye police department concluded in its records
that even with extensive searches performed by Buckeye PD, Daniel’s Jeep Renegade was in the
area in which it was found for almost thirty days. However, rancher Brandon XXX’s
statement, the person who found my son’s Jeep informed Buckeye PD the vehicle was not at the
found location for thirty days. Mr. XXX was adamant that the Jeep he found was not there two
to three days before July 19, 2021. Mr. XXX’s statement is critical because it disputes or at
least conflicts with Buckeye PD’s information. Mr. XXX’s statement should be included in the
police report because he is an eyewitness, at this point, the only eye witness, who confirms the
vehicle had been recently disposed of, which further confirms Daniel’s disappearance is
suspicious and possibly the result of foul play.
The timeline Mr. XXX provided for the Jeep’s discovery begs substantial questions
about how the Jeep Renegade found its way into the ravine. Evidence taken by Jeffrey McGrath
of 3 Law Recon from the Jeep shows that the vehicle had exceeded forty ignition cycles. Jeffery
McGrath, 3 Laws Recon, and Joseph V. Catone (Buckeye PD Private Investigator) agree that
exceeding forty ignition cycles is unexplainable.
The vehicle investigations performed by Mr. McGrath and Mr. Catone differ because Mr.
McGath’s investigation was based on first-hand information taken directly from Daniel’s Jeep
Renegade, and Mr. Catone’s investigation was based on the analysis provided to him by a third
party. Although Mr. McGrath and Mr. Catone disagree about how the vehicle got to its found
location, there is no disagreement or explanation about how or why Daniel’s clothing was found
about three feet from the Jeep. The found clothes were most likely worn by Daniel on the day he
went missing because it includes his work safety vest and the clothing fits the description given
by Mr. XXX of what Daniel was wearing the day he went missing. There is no evidence that
Daniel had a change of clothes in the vehicle, and without such evidence, we should not rely on
assumptions of why Daniel’s clothes were found by his car with no sight of Daniel. The fact the
clothes Daniel wore the last day he was seen and went missing were found with the vehicle
almost thirty days later should be considered suspicious.
Also, after I reported Daniel was missing, I understand the Buckeye police department
spoke with several people. Your records reference the opinions of co-workers and other people
about Daniel’s perceived mental state before his disappearance and those individuals using the
word “odd.” None of those individuals are licensed or trained behavioral health professionals.
Their use of the word “odd” should not be used as a professional diagnosis to determine that
Daniel has not gone missing. Second, and more importantly, their “account” of one day in
Daniel’s life concerns me. He is more than the sum of the day or two before he went missing.
Although the Buckeye police department believes the disappearance of Daniel is suspicious,
your evaluation seems to suggest that Daniel’s case does not involve a missing person.
I provided the Buckeye police department with the name of an eyewitness who stated he
saw Daniel the day he was last seen. According to this eyewitness, he spoke with Daniel because
he was concerned that Daniel was near an area used for target practice. During that conversation,
he said that Daniel informed him that he was in the area working. That eyewitness, a federal
employee, has informed me that the Buckeye police department has never contacted him to share
his story. If, as we (my investigator and I) believe, this eyewitness’s account will demonstrate
that Mr. XXX’s information may not be accurate and dispute the narrative that Daniel was acting
“odd.”
During the last four months, I have had difficulty convincing you that my son would not
disappear on his own free will and leave essentials such as his mobile phone, keys, and wallet in his vehicle unless there was foul play. Therefore, without assistance from Buckeye police, I have
taken it upon myself to organize and conduct weekly searches aided by volunteers, local
Buckeye residents, and other caring and concerned volunteers from all over Arizona and the
country to search for Daniel or any evidence to get your department to confirm that Daniel is
missing and investigate Daniel’s disappearance as a crime.
During our searches, we have found buried human remains that are evidence of criminal
activity in the area Daniel was reported as last seen. We turned over those remains to your
department. Knowing that crimes have been committed in that area combined with alerts from
three certified cadaver dogs on a tree and other search areas three times on three days in the same
spot demands law enforcement action. The dogs’ alerts should be investigated whether or not
they have any relationship to Daniel’s disappearance.
You and I agree that Daniel disappeared under suspicious circumstances that have not
been enough to mobilize the Buckeye police department to treat my son’s disappearance as a
crime. Although your department believes that Daniel just walked away from his life despite
being a responsible young man, I assure you, as Daniel’s father, it is not probable. Because
Daniel cannot speak for himself, as his father, I must do so for my son’s safety and advocate for
help.
If Buckeye police do not have the resources available to investigate Daniel’s suspicious
disappearance or if you continue to believe you have a reason to do so, I am asking you to allow
another department or agency with more resources to assist.
I formally request that the Buckeye police department request the assistance of the FBI to
investigate my son’s disappearance and investigate the death threats I have received while
searching for my son. Because of the suspicious circumstances in which Daniel disappeared and
the unexplained evidence outlined above, my son’s case needs a criminal investigation. Daniel’s
life is worth it.
I appreciate your attention.
Sincerely,
David Robinson II
Father
* After writing this letter, Chief Hall almost 3 days later told me that he personally requested the FBI in for a case review. I then sent a second letter to Chief Hall requesting to be present for that case review. After waiting for a response for several days, I received a call from Detective Biffin who let me know that the meeting went forward without me. He also told me that the reason that the FBI decided not to come in to help with my son's case is that they feel that I am doing such a great job that I don't need them though I requested. This is unacceptable and I need you more than ever to put pressure on law enforcement to do their job and give my son the justice that he deserves. If Daniel was their child, there is no doubt that the FBI and all other agencies would have been involved from day one. It's been 6 months and I'm still begging for law enforcement to take my son's case seriously and investigate properly! No family should ever have to beg for justice. My son went missing in an area that's obviously and crime scene yet that area is being developed into a community instead of being investigated to whey my searches are finding human remains and other suspicious items like the pile of clothing near the well site that my son went missing and not belonging to him.
I will not stop fighting for my son and I thank you for your continued support. GOD Bless You!!!
