The Issue

A dog was found tied up and zipped inside a suitcase in a dumpster. Her name is Binny — and she is lucky to be alive.

Everett Police responded to a 911 call on November 18 and discovered Binny behind a building in horrifying condition. She was tied with rope, sealed in a suitcase, and abandoned without any chance of escape. When she arrived at the Everett Animal Shelter, she was vomiting blood and had deep abrasions around her neck. Staff also discovered she had recently given birth, meaning her puppies may still be missing or in danger.

This is not neglect. This is cruelty. And it must be treated that way.

Thanks to the quick actions of police and shelter staff, Binny is now recovering. She is gaining weight, receiving medical care, and surprising everyone with her gentle and trusting spirit. But while her future looks brighter, her abuser is still out there — and justice has not yet been served.

Right now, Everett police say they are still deciding whether this qualifies as abandonment or animal cruelty. For anyone who loves animals, there is no question. Tying a postpartum dog in a suitcase and leaving her to die is a clear act of intentional harm.

This petition calls on the Everett Police Department and city prosecutors to treat Binny’s case with the seriousness it deserves. Charge the responsible party with animal cruelty, not just abandonment. Show that Everett does not tolerate violence against animals — not now, not ever.

Sign if you believe Binny deserves more than a second chance. She deserves justice.
