Justice for Bangladesh's Freedom Fighters: Disburse Funds and Honor Sacrifices

The Issue

We, the undersigned, call upon the government of Bangladesh to fulfill its commitment to the freedom fighters who sacrificed so much for the nation's independence. It is imperative that the promised funds and benefits are promptly disbursed to these brave individuals who have dedicated their lives to securing our freedom.

Meet Iradot Hossain, a 76-year-old freedom fighter who served for 9 months during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Today, he is retired and relies on selling cows' milk to make ends meet. Despite his service and sacrifices, Iradot has not received any of the funds promised to him. For over 50 years, he has been chasing after what he was promised, only to face disappointment time and again. Iradot has witnessed his friends die beside him in battle, and yet, he continues to struggle for the support he deserves.

Our goals with this petition are as follows:

1. Immediate Disbursement of Funds: We demand the swift and transparent disbursement of all pending funds and benefits owed to the freedom fighters. Many of these individuals are in dire need of financial assistance to support themselves and their families.

2. Accountability and Transparency: We urge the government to ensure accountability and transparency in the distribution process, with regular updates provided to the public regarding the status of disbursements.

3. Recognition and Respect: We seek to raise awareness about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and advocate for their rightful recognition and respect within society. It is crucial that their contributions to the nation's history and independence are acknowledged and honored.

4. Long-term Support: We call for the establishment of sustainable support systems to cater to the ongoing needs of the freedom fighters, including healthcare, housing, and social welfare programs. Many of these individuals are elderly or have disabilities, and they deserve dignified and comprehensive support in their later years.

By signing this petition, we stand in solidarity with the freedom fighters of Bangladesh and demand justice, dignity, and respect for their invaluable contributions to our nation's history and identity.
