On the bustling streets of Austin neighborhood, Chicago, tragedy struck that shook me to the core. A precious 9-year-old boy, Anakin Cesar Perez, was hit and killed by Yaritza Marie Rivera who was speeding down a school, Anakin crossed the street to school and once he seen Yaritza speeding even past a speed bump she sped through not breaking not slowing slowing down Anakin began running with his hands in the air running away from driver’s car! she then Hit and Dragged Anakin 72ft down the street while people were yelling at her to stop , and children even his own sister witnessing everything following behind him to school watching people running and screaming. Yartiza came back 27 minutes after she left the scene because she called someone and they told her to go back, As she was turning the corner She reversed and even looked at Anakin little body laying on the ground hitting the curb and she continued to drive off not even checking if the poor little 9 year old boy was okay!!! She knew and was aware of what she had done even coming back reversing and looking at a child lifeless on the curb and she still chose to leave and only come back when she was told to 😭💔 Sickeningly, the driver then told authorities she had no idea she had struck a child, even as her vehicle bore the undeniable marks of the trauma, and she returned 27min and seen anakin on yhe ground SHE CHOSE TO DRIVE AWAY. And she had people chasing after her watching the entire incident. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BUT WITHIN A FEW HOURS SHE WAS RELEASED WITH ONLY ONE TICKET!!!! AND THE POLICE REPORTED IT AN “ACCIDENT” !! EVEN ON CAMERA SEEING SHE WAS SPEEDING DOWN THE SCHOOL AND NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE ROAD AND DRAGGED POOR 9yo ANAKIN CESAR PEREZ DOWN 72ft HIS POOR SISTER RIGHT BEHIND HIM GOING TO SCHOOL HAD TO WITNESS THE WHOLE INCIDENT OF HER POOR LITTLE BROTHER! HELP ANAKIN’S MOTHER AND SIBLINGS AND ENTIRE FAMILY PUT THIS MONSTER BEHIND BARS!!!! YOU DIDN’T BREAK! HE RAN WITH HIS HANDS IN THE AIR!! AND AFTER HE WAS PINNED UNDERNEATH THE CAR SHE DRAGGED HIM UNTIL HE HIT THE CURB !!  PLEASE HELP ANAKIN’S MOTHER AND FAMILY GET THEIR JUSTICE!! OUR CHILDREN’S LIFE IS WORTH MORE THEN ONE TICKET!! ANAKIN CESAR PEREZ WAS WORTH MORE THEN ONE TICKET!!! 

The incident wasn't a random accident—it was a consequence of dangerous and careless driving habits that have plagued our streets for too long. Every day, I witness the same negligence: cars speeding through school zones without a care, ignoring stop signs, and recklessly endangering the lives of children, mothers, and community members. Anakin's tragic death was a painful reminder that these reckless driving behaviors cannot continue.

We must act now to prevent another tragedy. We urge the City of Chicago and local authorities to PUT THIS WOMEN BEHIND BARS!! and implement stricter enforcement of traffic laws, especially in school zones and small streets throughout the Chicago neighborhood. Speed bumps and stop signs aren’t enough if the speed limit is not respected. Increased police presence during school hours, enhanced speed-check measures, and severe penalties for those who break traffic laws must be established.

We also call for local schools to raise awareness among students and parents about road safety and for communities to work together to watch over their streets. Together, we can create a safer environment for our children and pedestrians in the Austin community.
