Thank you for all the many hundreds of messages of support for Alfie. He will read them all and it will give him a huge lift to see the support that he has.
For those who don't have time to read yesterdays update in full, the short version is this:
If a serious issue is found in the conduct of the admissions process or appeal, there is in most people's reality, no process by which it can be put right.
There are two avenues in theory.
The first is the Welsh Public Services Ombudsman; if the Ombudsman finds in your favour, they can recommend that the appeal be run again with a different panel and clerk. However, it is not possible to set aside the original decision and so the appeal cannot actually run again. Seriously!
The second is judicial review, but this is colossally expensive. If it went wrong, the bill could be heading towards six figures. It could also take the best part of a year, and it must be brought within three months, which doesn’t give much time for exploring less terrifying solutions.
We have written to the relevant minister to argue that this situation needs urgent review. It may not help Alfie, but there will always be children having problems with this process as it is.
We will keep trying to fix this for Alfie, keep sharing the petition.
Thank you!
