In a massive break with precedent, omissions in the latest congressional NDAA have blocked all Afghans who served alongside American troops from seeking refugee within the United States.
This is unacceptable and a further betrayal of our nation's moral codes.
I ask that you reach out to your congressmen and demand action. If you are unclear of why this inaction by our government is so egregious, I recommend that you tune in to watch Retrograde; NatGeo's chronicling of the final nine months of US involvement in Afghanistan.
NMRG Rescue Project has been collaborating with NatGeo for some time now: I have personally attended 11 screenings, and the shock and outrage it has generated is precisely the energy we need to spur congress to action.
Retrograde is also the first time the NMRG have been featured in any form of major media. The Green Berets breaking the news to them of America's imminent abandonment is the first of many heart-rending scenes, and our organization has resettled many of those who appear in the documentary. It is on NatGeo's channel now, and will start streaming on Disney tomorrow.
