Hey everyone,

As you may or may not know, the Afghan Adjustment Act (AAA) is poised to be voted on soon- likely next week. While this is a promising step in the right direction, it falls far short of what is needed to protect our allies. The AAA only streamlines a path to residency for those already within the US- there is currently no agreed upon plan pertaining to our Allies who remain stranded in Afghanistan. Because of this, voting on the Afghan Adjustment Act must be delayed until it addresses those left behind.

A common argument against this rationale is that a small victory is better than no victory. That may be true. However, even without the AAA, those currently stateside are orders of magnitudes safer that those in Afghanistan. Furthermore, in the political realm, the passage of this act will give the Biden Administration the ability to claim some manner victory… and then subsequently abandon everyone else. We are an apolitical organization, however, with mid-terms and the anniversary of the Kabul evacuations approaching, the Biden administration currently has no ability to control the narrative: For the sake of those left behind, we must not cede this leverage: We must continue pressing for improvements to the AAA until provisions are made to safeguard those living under Taliban control.

We ask only this: please reach out to your Representatives and Senators. Remind them of America’s moral obligation and ask them to delay voting on the AAA.
