Under mounting pressure from the ongoing struggle, the Punjab government convened a meeting yesterday evening between Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and the 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians’ Front.

Held at the Education Minister’s residence after the Vidhan Sabha session, the meeting concluded with the Minister assuring that the review petition will be filed within a week. He also committed to holding another meeting next week to address other key departmental issues.

In light of this assurance, the protest scheduled for 28th September in Sangrur has been deferred.

However, the Front has made it clear: if concrete steps are not taken to secure the permanent employment of the 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians, the struggle will intensify in the days ahead.
