Subject: Petition requesting justice be given to the 11,21,225 aspirants for the UGC NET Exam June 2024.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We, the undersigned students and concerned citizens of India, write to express our deep concerns regarding the recent cancellation of the UGC-NET June 2024 examination due to reported irregularities. It is disheartening to witness a repetition of such events, which severely compromises the integrity of our educational system, fair examinations, importance of merit and our futures. Listed below are a few of our key concerns:

1. Exam Integrity Compromised: The Ministry of Education announced that the integrity of the UGC-NET June 2024 exam had been compromised, leading to its cancellation.

2. Cybersecurity Threats: On June 19, 2024, cybersecurity experts reported irregularities during the exam, further indicating a significant lapse in securing the examination process.

3. Immediate Cancellation Impact: Over 11 lakh candidates, including 6,35,587 females, 4,85,579 males, and 59 candidates of the third gender, have been adversely affected. The sudden cancellation has led to considerable emotional, psychological, and financial stress among candidates who have invested substantial time and resources in preparation.

Recurring Issues:

Similar trauma has been experienced by another 25 Lakhs students in NEET Exam again conducted by NTA.

Our Requests:

1. Explanation required on why the exam has been canceled

2. What was the reason that the mode of exam was changed from online to offline after 6 years

3. Timelines on action on NTA and its existence as an exam conducting body

4.  It should be notified if such issues have occurred before; if yes, then what was done about it.

5. How the students will be compensated as they have faced financial, emotional and psychological trauma

6. Why did NTA lie by releasing a circular of successful completion of UGC NET Exam hours before the news broke

7. Timelines and information of the CBI enquiry, and complete transparency of the proceedings and re-exam dates of June 2024 and December 2024

8- Implementation of Robust Security Measures: Enhanced cybersecurity measures and other safeguards must be implemented to prevent future irregularities and ensure the integrity of all national examinations.

Conclusion:

The recurring issues with national examinations are deeply concerning and require immediate attention to uphold the integrity and fairness of the education system. We trust that the Government of India will take swift and appropriate action to address these issues, ensuring a transparent and secure examination process in the future.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

Ashwin Srivastava
