Following a 2nd Postponement of my 27th trial in the Evelpidon Court on Saturday November 26th, 2022, which came after my recent visit to the office of the European Commission’s Representation in Greece two days earlier on November 24th (Read the Related Update Here), where I went to demand answers for this ongoing Hostage taking and my complete deprivation in Greece, I had to appear in the Court again on December 08th, 2022, to attend the hearing. 

Due to my request for legal aid, the Court has previously been postponed twice. While still in Police Custody, the Court failed to bring me a lawyer. Which is why on November 26th they released me from Police Custody and told me to return to the Court again to submit a formal application to them in order to apply for legal aid. I did that on Monday, November 28th, 2022.

However, the secretariat of the Judge who received my application, told me verbally that the application would most likely be rejected, because it didn’t meet one of the criteria, which she said is the minimum time gap, one month prior to the Court’s date, in order for an application to be considered.

They also sent me their written decision in Greek via email the next day, in which I didn’t not find any contact information (i.e. Phone number or email address) of any person and because I don’t know Greek, and more importantly because of what they had told me verbally at the time of submitting my application, I presumed they rejected my request.

Based on that assumption, on the day of my trial on Thursday, December 08th, 2022, I had reiterated my request for legal aid. But the presiding Judge, after going through the previous notes on my case file, demanded proof of the Court’s refusal/failure in appointing a lawyer to my Case.

It was only after showing them the Court’s decision on my application for Legal Aid, that I learned the Court had actually considered my application and had in fact given me a Lawyer. Hence, they told me that I should have contacted my alleged lawyer before the day of the trial.

However, when I asked the Court to show me the Lawyer’s name and also his/her contact details on the Court’s decision on my application for legal aid which I had a copy of it in my phone and had placed it in front of them, they could only point me to the lawyer's name with absolutely no contact information or whatsoever in order to get in touch with him.

Hence, unable to give a proper answer to my question as to how was I going to contact this person without any contact information, the Court told me to look his name up on Google and ignored my argument about search results for individuals with similar names. They also told me that I could alternatively get in touch with the Athens Bar Association to get the Lawyer’s contact details from there.

The interpreter, a woman with a familiar face whom I have seen many times before in the Court, seemed to be very rude and ignorant while translating my questions and constantly telling me not to pose any questions or to argue with the Court, when all I was saying was if they had given me a lawyer, then they should have also given me a way to contact that person, which they hadn't.

Ultimately this was the ground for the Court to be postponed again so that I can find the contact information of my supposed lawyer and get in touch with him about the case. They postponed it for June 15th, 2023.

After I had finished from the Courtroom, I went back to the same office where I had submitted my application for legal aid 10-days earlier, hoping that I would get the Lawyer's contact details from there without the need for contacting the Athens Bar Association for that. Because they are also very fascist.

The secretariat said at first that she didn’t have any contact information for that lawyer. However, she made a few Phone calls to other offices afterwards, where she was finally able to get a Phone number and an email address for him.

When I asked her why they didn’t provide that information in their decision letter on my application, she said, because there was no contact information for him in the Court’s notes on my case files. It was at this point that I realized they had in fact only given me the name of the same person whom the Court itself failed to summon when I was still in Police Custody, which was also the reason for the Court’s 2nd Postponement and also the reason for my release from Police Custody afterwards, so that I could submit a formal application for another lawyer in the Court afterwards.

However, when I alerted the secretariat of those obvious facts, she got upset and said the Court had given me this lawyer and that’s it.

Since at that moment I couldn’t not have asked for a replacement to supposedly my current lawyer before a written answer from him related to the Court’s decision for this assignment, I left the Secretariat and went to the other office afterwards to make sure the lawyer’s contact information which she had over the Phone from there was correct. But even then it turned out she had either given me a wrong Phone number or a Phone number which belonged to someone else, because I didn’t find the same Phone number for him on the list I was shown in the other office. When I asked what was the reason for that, all they had to say was that they couldn’t explain that.

Leaving the Court afterwards and returning to my shelter outside the UNHCR office where I was enduring day 125th of my 4th Hunger Strike, the first thing I had to do was to get in touch with the lawyer, which I did by sending him an email along with the Court’s decision, but so far I have not heard anything back from him.

Although I don't want to presume, but given everything that I went through, especially for a simple and the most obvious thing like getting the lawyer's contact information which you read about here, all the evidence points to the fact that those were deliberate attempts for harassing me and making things even more difficult for me.

Having all that in mind, for the time being I will wait to hear back from the lawyer, hopefully soon, and will take things from there.

Furthermore, I also continue to remain in urgent need of Humanitarian assistance for my survival. Currently, I have absolutely no money, no Multivitamins, no winter clothing, no heating in my shelter and not even enough blankets, let alone food or other essentials to help sustain my life. Here they deliberately weaponized Food and Water to starve me to death and cover the whole thing up.
