Last Wednesday I sought to speak with some people from Refugee Legal Support at their office. But it turned out they changed their address and I couldn't find their present location. 

They used to be in a place called “Impact Hub” which is hosting dozens of other organizations among which “Choose Love” was also a familiar name.

After speaking with a person at the door who said was in charge of managing the space, I learned that the Refugee Legal Support was no longer at that address. “They moved out of here, and we don’t know about their current location.” she told me.

After I had asked, she also placed a call to them to learn about their current address. But the person on the line who seemed to have recognized me after asking for my name while avoiding to speak to me directly on the phone, also didn’t provide us with their current address.

Although they have once responded to one of my emails from 2021, party by saying “In Athens, Refugee Legal Support (RLS) have a very small team and can assist only with asylum interview preparation and family reunification cases. We are unable to assist with resettlement or ECHR cases. ” but they have not been responding to or even acknowledging any of my other emails, particularly those of the present year, which either have been updated with a lot of new information or are completely of a different nature.

Before leaving the place fully empty handed, however, I decided to meet and speak with some people from “Choose Love” instead, which are hosted in the same location and are also among a very long list of hundreds of other organizations whom I have been reaching out to for a very long time but I have not yet received any support from them either. In fact, in most of the cases, I have not even received a response at least acknowledging the receipt of my emails.

So after telling the girl at the door that I wanted to see some people from Choose Love instead, she helped arrange a meeting with two people from them outside their office.

But the meeting I had with them was not fruitful at all. Because they only kept saying “We only fund other organizations and not individuals. Because that’s what we do.”

They kept repeating the same thing, despite bluntly telling them that no other organization in Greece whether supported by them or not, is willing to help me out despite asking for support from them for so many years.

Although after a lot of discussions and pleadings from my part at the end they agreed on making an inquiry about my request for legal aid with their legal partner in Greece, which turned out to be Human Rights 360, and also agreed on making a separate inquiry with their Funders for potential support for me, but to the best of my knowledge they have not taken any action towards fulfilling these promises either.

Because before leaving, I also provided them with all my contact information along with a note in which I explicitly requested to be copied in any email sent on my behalf to their partners, whether in Greece or abroad, which they verbally agreed to, but I have not received any emails from them to this date whether directly sent to me or addressed to their partners.

At the end they were not so happy about being captured on the camera even though I told them many times that I was recording and they asked me to leave.

So overall this was yet another failed endeavor in acquiring support, especially for my survival from those so called Humanitarian organizations who claim to be helping and standing with Refugees, when in fact all they do on the ground is to promote slavery and fund those who hurt Refugees.
