Following the destruction of my Banner outside the #UNHCR office[1] in Athens, Greece on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, by a Fascist and Racist Greek woman along with her dog and the Police’s deliberate misconduct in denying to file my Complaint, ultimately I found no other choice but to address those matters to the Greek Ombudsman in order to ask for mediation and assistance.
My Complaint to the Greek Ombudsman was sent on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021. The Greek Ombudsman sent its first letter[2] on Monday, January 03rd, 2022, acknowledging the receipt of my complaint and sent its second letter[3] in Greek on Friday, January 14th, 2022, which was addressed to the Ambelokipo Police Department concerning the matter and lastly three months later on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, the Ombudsman sent its final letter[4] concluding their so-called investigation by citing the following:
“Allegedly on the day of the incident, the officer on duty at the Ambelokipo Police Station after explaining my rights under the Greek Law (Which never happened), has asked me to return back to their police station along with an interpreter within three months of the timing of the incident to file my complaint with them. Apparently, according to the Greek Ombudsman’s letter, I didn’t accept an interpreter appointed by the Police. Moreover, the Greek Ombudsman also claims I didn’t appear at the Police Station again along with an interpreter during the time frame the Police had specified for me, as the Police had asked me to, therefore, accordingly there was no room for mediation by the Greek Ombudsman and they declare the case closed.”
However, to prove that the Greek Ombudsman's claims were completely groundless and unfounded, I made another complaint[4] to the Organization on Friday, April 01st, 2022, in which I linked to the entire transcript along with the whole audio record of my conversation[5] with the Police officer involved and requested that the Greek Ombudsman take those materials into consideration and decide upon the case accordingly.
But the Greek Ombudsman sent its second final letter 40 days later on Monday, May 09th, 2022, in which it claims that there was no ground to support a possible re-evaluation of their initial decision. It said this was because none of the materials sent to them were taken into consideration, citing they have been obtained without the prior consent of the other party involved, meaning the Police officer, and finally suggested to address the issue with a Lawyer.
This is when the Greek Ombudsman knows all too well that they have practically made it impossible for me to get legal aid in Greece, be it from the public or private sector and even from those so-called Humanitarian organizations who claim to be providing Pro-Bono legal aid to Refugees in this country. As a matter of the fact, this is one of the reasons why I am addressing all those complaints to the Greek Ombudsman instead.
Apparently in this country, even if their Police try to murder you, you would still need to ask for their permission to get evidence of their crimes. How convenient is that for them?
This is just preposterous, but let’s not forget this is how they do things in Greece. Rather than upholding our rights, they all have become complicit and backing each other in violating and disregarding them.
A system and the whole society all together that use every opportunity and constantly push for our enslavement, with ultimately no rights or whatsoever, and they never seem to get tired of it, because that’s their ultimate agenda.
Refugees’ lives matter too, and we are not slaves, no matter how hard they try to make us.
