Day 123rd of my 3rd #HungerStrike outside UNHCR, Greece — The Greek Ombudsman's 2nd Letter Regarding the Damages Done to My Banner — Documents — Friday, January 14th, 2022

On Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, while I have been enduring day 101st of my 3rd Hunger Strike Outside UNHCR Office, a #fascist Greek woman along with her dog damaged my banner and left the scene with her family without any remorse OR whatsoever.

The Greek Police also refused to register my complaint against the said woman. A painful reminder of the horrific incident that occurred here at my protest site outside the #UNHCR office in 2017.

Back then a passenger car hit me twice with attempted murder motivations and simply ran away afterwards. When I tried to file a complaint with the police, shortly after the incident, aside from making excuses about not knowing the assailant’s name, they had continued shooting me from one Police Station to another Police Station for two straight days and at the end they told me since I didn’t die from the incident, they wouldn’t care at all about what had actually happened to me as a result of this accident.

I can still vividly remember those days. My body was shacking day and night and I was suffering from intense pain, particularly in my back, for over three straight months, and sometimes I had difficulties sleeping at night due to the pain and trauma from the accident.

As the Police refused to register my complaint on the day of the incident, hence, I found no other way but to redirect my complaint to the Greek #Ombudsman a few days later on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021. This was not only to demand #compensation for the damages done to my banner, but also to bring Police’s incompetence and systematic negligence in taking care of the both incidents mentioned herein, to its attention.

The Greek Ombudsman sent an acknowledgement of receipt of my complaint on Monday, January 03rd, 2022, and today, Friday, January 14th, 2022, has sent its second letter which in this case is written in Greek and addressed to the Hellenic Police.

The crimes committed against us, the #Refugees, should not be simply dismissed, advertised as insignificant OR even go unpunished. Refugees are not slaves. We have rights and our lives and livelihoods matter too.

Nothing like this should happen to anyone, anywhere and no one should be put through a situation like this.

Please do not be indifferent and ignorant to what is happening here and take action now.

Yours Respectfully;
