Petition updateJustice and Freedom for Hostage Of Europe NowAcknowledgement of the Receipt of My Complaint by the Greek Ombudsman about my Banner

Dear the Greek Ombudsman;

In the afternoon of day 101st on my 3rd Hunger Strike outside the UNHCR office in Athens, Greece on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, I had once again experienced racist and fascism behaviors at my protest site.

A woman depicted in the pictures you will find in the given link below, along with her dog after damaging my banner left the scene with her family without any remorse OR even saying sorry about what they did.

Although the banner itself (Graphic) remains intact, but the mechanism (Stand) lost its retractable feature as a result of its spring losing tension from the incident. Hence, it either needs to be repaired or replaced. Although the banner is now open again and from outside view, it may look fine, but the problem is still there and I either have to fix the roll-up (Mechanism) OR pay for a new one. The whole system costs 50 Euros. The money, which I don’t have.

Moreover, however, I finally managed to call the police the same day, and they were briefed about the situation shortly after arriving at the site of the incident, but after taking the woman’s picture from me, they advised me to go file a complaint at the Ambelokipi Police Station. But, the Police officer on duty at the Police Station who wasn’t so keen on responding to the matter and mostly replying to me in Greek, even when I informed him that I didn’t know Greek, at last told me in English, that without the woman’s name they couldn’t proceed with filing my complaint and simply sent me away.

This attitude was a painful reminder of the horrific incident that occurred here at my protest site outside the UNHCR office in 2017. Back then a passenger car hit me twice with attempted murder motivations and simply ran away afterwards. When I tried to file a complaint with the police at the time, shortly after the incident, aside from making excuses that I didn’t know the assailant’s name, they were shooting me from one Police Station to another Police Station for two straight days and at the end they told me since I didn’t die from the incident, they wouldn’t care at all about what had actually happened.

Irrespective of the magnitude of the crimes being perpetrated against us, the Refugees here in this country, particularly myself, whether it is committed by the government, by the Police OR by the Civil Society, in fact, this is what happens in our efforts in pursuing justice.

In the hope of finding a resolution to my dire situation, I have decided on the continuation of my 3rd Hunger Strike which is now day 106. The following pictures posted on my Facebook Page, illustrate my Physical State on day 84th and day 95th of my current Hunger Strike, respectively, on Monday, December 06th, 2021, and Friday, December 17th, 2021, which has undoubtedly had been deteriorated even further.

Counting the number of days from my first (64-days – March 21st, 2017 to May 23rd, 2017) and second (73-days – Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020, to Thursday, September 03rd, 2020) Hunger Strikes here, thus far I have been on 243-days-long Hunger Strike in this very exact location since the start of my protest on March 21st, 2017.

Yet, not only this matter still remains unattended and unresolved, but after these many years of complete deprivation in Greece, it seems they are now seeking to starve me to death and cover it up.

I fear for my life, my safety and well-being.

I ran out of funds last year, my own past savings, and have been surviving on other people’s little Donations from abroad ever since the break of my 2nd-Hunger Strike on September 3rd, 2020. But that also ran out. Consequently, currently, I face extreme difficulties providing myself with clean water and other essentials such as Multivitamins and Electrolytes. For the same reason I am also unable to get myself a heater OR even warm clothes in order to keep warm, particularly at nights and therefore I am unable to sleep and rest well.

Moreover, I have been unable to take a shower in over 3 months. Along with lack of electricity and sanitary services, this is one of the major and persisting issues that I have been forced to deal with on a daily basis since the start of my protest outside the UNHCR office on March 21st, 2017.

As the winter looms, under current circumstances the risks of freezing to death become equally as high as dying of starvation. I fear the extreme exhaustion from the lack of Sleep/Rest could also accelerate this process.

Nothing like this should happen to anyone, anywhere and no one should be put through a situation like this.

Dear the Greek Ombudsman, in conclusion, adding to the pile of my complaints addressed you, I also hereby file this complaint regarding the damages done to my banner and also the Police’s systematic negligence in taking care of the both incidents mentioned herein.

The crimes committed against us, the Refugees, should not be simply dismissed, advertised as insignificant OR even go unpunished. Refugees are not slaves. We have rights and our lives and livelihoods matter too.

The both incidents mentioned herein must be investigated urgently and I should be properly compensated for all the physical, emotional and economical damages and all the trauma unjustifiably inflicted upon my life.

In the meantime, I also urge the Greek Ombudsman to write recommendations to potential Grantmakers/Donors (Individuals OR Organizations) to lend their support to me in this extraordinary difficult time via the Donation link provided below and keep me in the loop (Cc) for any letters/emails it sends in regards.

Lastly, I would like to receive a confirmation of receipt of this complaint as soon as it is being received.

Thank you for your time and attention. I remain at your disposal, should you require any further information.

Yours Respectfully;
