I sent yet another email to the U.S. Embassy in Athens on Thursday, July 29, 2021 in order to ask for help.
I also appeared in front of the U.S. Embassy around 12:30 PM in order to convey this pressing Humanitarian Appeal to them in person too.
However, the security personnel at the reception didn’t want to receive my message at all. ‘’Don’t tell me anything. Police is on its way’’ they told me right at the beginning and then disappeared into the room before I could tell them anything.
When I tried to talk to the receptionist for the second time, he was very upset, didn’t seem to care to listen to me and was this time responding to me in Greek and waving his hands with a very humiliating way yelling at me ‘’Ella, bla bla bla (Greek Words)’’ which for the better OR for the worse, my understating was he wasn’t going to take my message and that I should return to the public area where my banner was and just wait there for the Police to come and take me away.
Just moments later a Policeman arrived, he said I couldn’t stay there and that I was a possible threat to the Embassy and gave me two minutes to leave, otherwise, he said, a Police car will come to take me away with them to the Police Station.
Since I wanted to speak with a representative from the U.S. Embassy, I refused to leave.
The Policeman was on the phone to call for backup that a woman from the Embassy approached him and had a brief conversation with him which due to being far from them I didn’t hear what they talked about.
As the woman was heading back to the U.S. Embassy, I called ‘’Are you from the U.S. Embassy. ’’ ‘’Yes,’’ she said and changed course towards me.
I had nearly 7 minutes long conversation with her, but it didn’t lead to anywhere.
Moments after she headed back inside the building, I was being surrounded by 6 OR 7 Police officers who approached me from the two sides of the pavement, rudely tried to take down my banner, forcibly took my phone and sent me to the Department of the National Security at Police headquarters where they held me for 3 to 4 hours before I was being let go again.
There are fates worse than death. Not only they have handed me one, but in fact, kept me in such a horrific state of nightmare and despair every day for the past 7 hellish years. They took away every shred of my dignity and honor and now are coming after my life.
I fear for my life, my safety and well-being.
Please spread the word and show that you care and therefore not indifferent to what is happening here. So that the UNHCR can come to its senses and take urgent action for resolving my dire situation by referring my case for Resettlement in another country (i.e. Canada, U.S. OR Australia) and also to seek formal apology and compensation for all the physical, spiritual and material losses they have so ruthlessly and unjustly inflicted upon my life in Greece for the past 7 hellish years.
Nothing like this should happen to anyone, anywhere and no one should be put through a situation like this.
This is a dire emergency. Please do not be indifferent and ignorant to what is happening here and take action now.
