Justice and Compensation for innocent protestors murdered by the Kenyan police and army.

Justice and Compensation for innocent protestors murdered by the Kenyan police and army.
The Issue
Justice and compensation for innocent protestors murdered by the Kenyan police and army.
"You left me with no last words, but only receiving a call and finding you lifeless. I know you told God in the process after that policeman shot you and watched you die slowly, blood draining out of you.” - Gillian Munyao, Mama Rex Masaii.
This is a petition by parents whose children were killed by Kenyan security officers, some of whom are publicly known, during the peaceful protests held in Kenya in June 2024. Now, it’s approaching one year since we lost our children to the State-sanctioned violence, and the inordinate delay in bringing perpetrators to book signals a clear cover-up.
Our children were exercising their constitutional right to protest and deliver petitions to public officers to challenge poor governance. They were murdered in cold blood, many of them shot in the back while fleeing. Some were shot in the head to illustrate police's intent was to kill, not to apprehend the protestors.
Extrajudicial killings did not stop there; many others have since been abducted and tortured, with some lucky ones found alive, but maimed. Many bodies showed up in dams, dumpsites, and morgues. Many still remain unaccounted for, following forced disappearances by State agents.
We, as parents of the victims, call upon all Kenyan, African, and global citizens to stand with us as we collectively increase the urgent call for immediate implementation of our demands. Together, we request President William Ruto to reaffirm Kenya’s commitment to the rule of law, accountability for murderers, and justice for the many victims of extrajudicial killings by taking immediate action on the following:
1. Arrest and prosecute killer cops, and their commanders, who directed and executed the murder of innocent, peaceful protestors.
2. Provide compensation for murdered victims’ families, and families of those who suffered injuries and destruction of property.
3. Arrest and prosecute those who sponsored the destruction of public property during the protests.
4. Arrest and prosecute criminal elements that infiltrated the peaceful protests to facilitate looting and plunder of private property.
5. Initiate a public inquiry to allow Kenyans, young and old, to air their grievances and defuse the traumas that they bear from the protests.
6. Provide psycho-social support to Kenyans who need therapy, under the government’s universal healthcare programme.
The signatures collected in this petition will be delivered to the office of the president and the Kenyan Parliament on June 25, 2025. We require that the above be implemented with immediate effect. By this notice we, the mothers, fathers, siblings, relatives, friends, and Kenyans of goodwill shall present all the signatures collected to Office of the President and Parliament on June 25, 2025 to mark one year since the senseless killing of our children within the precincts of Parliament and Nairobi’s central business district. #Justice4OurMashujaa
