Just Say No to NNR for City of Allen Budget

The Issue

The Allen City Council is currently deciding on how to handle the 2023 budget.  The budget that has been proposed by city staff will raise your city taxes by an average of $10 for the entire year.

There are three councilman that are pushing for No New Revenue (NNR) which effectively means that there will be no city tax increase at all.  While this sounds great in theory, this also means that they are asking city departments to cut expenditures.  This means that street repairs will be delayed, the hiring of staff to provide city services will be placed on hold, equipment that needs to be replaced due to age and damage will be band aided and necessary roof repairs to city buildings will be postponed.

It is important to remember that while inflation is affecting your household, it also affects the City of Allen. Everything they have to purchase to make repairs within the city has also increased.  We already "kicked the can" down the street last year with NNR and if we do it again  for 2023 in combination with inflation costs...the financial impact down the line for all of the citizens will be disastrous.

If you support the passing of the 2023 budget as is that will fully fund all city repairs and services...please consider signing this petition.  It is vital for the future of our great city.  Is it really worth passing NNR to save the equivalent of a fast food drive through order for one of it means missing out on necessary repairs throughout the city?

Time is of the essence.  Please sign and share with your friends as soon as possible as the Allen City Council is voting on the 2023 budget on September 13th.  We need to be able to turn in all petition signatures by September 9th.

Please also email Allen City Council at Council@CityofAllen.org  with your support of passing the budget as proposed by the city staff.  It is absolutely vital that you let them know how you feel about the budget being fully funded for the betterment of the citizens.
