Jumpstyle Peace Treaty

We've seen Jumpstyle evolve from a niche underground to a global 
phenomenon, and then underground again. From the heat of nightclubs to the glow of YouTube screens, to radio stations and even conquering stadiums, dance has become a cultural force. But just as a flame that shines brightly can go out, Jumpstyle, at its peak, saw its light dimmed by divisions. What was once a celebration of collective expression began to be eroded by a dark era of individualism, ethnic and regional segregation. Groups that should dance together, separated only by geography, began to build walls of prejudice, using technical evolution as a weapon to feed their egos.

Years of isolation, where Jumpstyle's true brilliance was stifled, have brought us here. But now, before us, with the arrival of a new generation, is a unique opportunity: the chance to break this toxic cycle and restructure the legacy of our dance in the deepest meaning of community, rescuing its true purpose. Today, more than ever, we need something bigger, something that goes beyond borders and heals the wounds of the past.

Preamble:

In the name of unity, progress, and the preservation of the art and culture of Jumpstyle, we, the undersigned representatives of all nations and communities, do hereby declare our commitment to peace, mutual respect, and the advancement of our shared passion. This treaty stands as a testament to our collective will to forge a healthier, more constructive environment for the new generation of Jumpstylers, ensuring that the future of our dance is safeguarded from the negative behaviors of a few, and that it remains true to the original meaning of community.

The word "community" derives from the Latin "communitas," which means a fellowship, or a group of people united by shared beliefs and goals. It is within this spirit that we seek to restore Jumpstyle communities to their roots, as spaces where distance—whether regional or cultural—is diminished, and where nations draw closer through the global development and sharing of history, knowledge, and innovation.

• Unity of Purpose:

 

• • All signatories shall strive to unite under the banner of Jumpstyle, recognizing that our shared love for the dance transcends borders, languages, and cultures. We pledge to work together to build bridges, not walls, between our communities.

 

• Respect for All Communities:
  • All members of the Jumpstyle United Nations (JUN) shall respect and honor the traditions, practices, and cultures of other Jumpstyle communities, even those that have not yet joined the JUN. We acknowledge that each community contributes uniquely to the global tapestry of Jumpstyle, and we vow to support their growth and development.

 

• Preservation of Dance and Culture:
  • We commit to the preservation of the dance's rich history and cultural significance, ensuring that Jumpstyle remains an art form that is open, welcoming, and respectful of its diverse practitioners.

Article 2: Upholding the Principles of JUN

• Adherence to JUN Principles:
  • All signatories shall strictly adhere to the principles outlined by the JUN. This includes a firm commitment to the inclusivity, integrity, and justice of the Jumpstyle community. No member shall violate these principles, whether in their interactions with other communities or within their own.

 

• Promotion of a Healthy Environment:
  • We vow to foster a positive and constructive environment within all Jumpstyle communities. This includes actively combating toxic behaviors, discrimination, and any actions that detract from the sense of community and mutual respect that Jumpstyle is built upon.

 

• Focus on the Next Generation:
  • Recognizing our responsibility to the next generation of Jumpstylers, we shall take every measure to ensure that they are welcomed into an environment that is nurturing, supportive, and free from the negative influences that have plagued past eras of the dance.

Article 3: Separation from Humor and Mockery

• Reclaiming the Essence of Community:

  • Signatories shall promote constructive communication, where humor is used to uplift rather than demean, and where all members feel valued and heard. We shall distance our communities from any behavior that diminishes the dignity of the dance or its practitioners.

 

• Reduction of Regional and Cultural Distances:
  • We commit to reducing regional and cultural distances within the Jumpstyle community, encouraging collaboration and the sharing of knowledge across borders. This includes actively welcoming and integrating newcomers, regardless of their background, into the global Jumpstyle family.
     

Article 4: Global Development and Knowledge Sharing

• Encouragement of Knowledge Sharing:

By signing the Jumpstyle Peace Treaty, we, the representatives of our respective nations and communities, pledge to uphold the values of unity, respect, and progress. We swear to abide by the principles of the JUN and to work tirelessly to create a Jumpstyle world where the dance is celebrated, the community is cherished, and the future is the result of such seeds being planted.
