OPERATION STOMPSyosset, NY, United States
Nov 3, 2015
Today’s election is critically important. We encourage all STOMPers to speak for the trees today and visit the voting booth. Last year at this precise time, the remaining 100 beautiful oak trees on S. Oyster Bay Road were senselessly destroyed. We called, we e-mailed, we wrote, we flyered, we petitioned, we protested, we were eventually forced to go to Court, at our own collective expense, to obtain a restraining order against our own County in a Town with a “Tree City USA” designation. A year later, we still wage the good fight, now oversized dangerous trucks added to the mix on S. Oyster Bay Road, recently designated an "access highway," without public notification or knowledge--an influx of dangerous trucks compromising our heath and safety. Today’s election is critical. Please take a moment to vote, polls open until 9 PM. STOMP’s future success lies in the ability to collaborate with public officials and leadership meaningfully interested in tree preservation, process and procedures, community engagement, safety, and sustainability. Please share this reminder with family, friends, and neighbors. Residents have inquired, sent us e-mails and messages regarding today's election. Many have asked, which individuals have supported our work, helped us with the trees over the course of the year? We list these individuals below, we wish them tree-mendous luck today: -- Bob Freier for Town of Oyster Bay Councilman (TOB, D) -- Friends of John Mangelli for TOB Supervisor (TOB, D) -- Joe Stufano for Town of Oyster Bay Councilman (TOB, D) -- Madeline Singas (District Attorney, D) County Legislator & City Positions -- Sylvia Cabana For LD14 (Bethpage, Hicksville) -- Dan Devine for LD 17 (Hicksville, Bethpage, Farmingdale) -- Eileen Napolitano for LD 13 (East Meadow, Seaford) -- Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (Glen Cove, Sea Cliff) -- Laura Curran for the 5th (Baldwin, Freeport) -- Anissa Moore For Long Beach City Council (Long Beach) Vote wisely. Vote for the trees. We sincerely thank you for your continued support.
