I made this petition to urge the United States government to take a more serious stance on the current Cuban crisis. This issue affects the lives of everyone dying, getting beaten, kidnapped, and arrested on the streets of Cuba and we need change now!

Dear US Senators and POTUS,

We the people of the United States are signing this petition to request that you make the crisis in Cuba a priority. On July 11th, 2021, the Cuban people took to the streets to protest the oppressive dictatorial regime that has been ruling over them for more than half a century. On this historic day, a new generation of Cubans that have not been completely crushed by this regime, began to peacefully protest their suppression of rights and horrid living conditions by uploading content to the web to demonstrate to the world what they are going through and what it is that they demand. They chant on the streets for liberty - Libertad - as the Cuban militia start imprisoning, kidnapping, and even shooting them down for expressing their own thoughts. The militia can't even claim violence of the Cuban people because on the island there is no right to bear arms, leaving them with nothing but the rubble from their own homes to defend themselves. The regime cut off the internet the next day to suppress the media going out into the world and to ensure that the dissidents across the entire island can't communicate with each other. This move also allows the Cuban Government to crush the spirits of the people as they plead for worldwide support. This destruction of hope, oppressive militia, and no weapons to defend themselves means that the Cuban people stand no chance of liberty without help from the free world, ESPECIALLY from the United States of America which is depicted by them as the symbol of freedom, 90 miles away.

What we, the American people, ask of you is to not let this genocide go unnoticed and do not stand by the dictatorship by doing nothing. This is not a problem that is solved until the Cuban people have freedom. We need internet reinstated to give the Cuban people hope and allow them to continue spreading the words that the Cuban Government is censuring. We need heavy diplomatic or military policy from the leaders of the free world. Use your connections to make this a world wide issue and pressure the Cuban Government to retire for once and for all! Protests have been seen all over the US, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Spain, France, Germany, New Zealand, Italy, and so many more; the people have spoken and it's time for the leaders in these countries to start speaking as well. Once the regime has withdrawn, we need a new government that doesn't dissolve into a dictatorship nor monarchy to take power and monitor elections so that what happened to Venezuela doesn't happen again. Free the political prisoners and make Cuba a country of the people, not of the few. It is also extremely important that Cuba remains an independent nation unless later voted on by the people. Do NOT repeat history and control the island like it was after Spain had surrendered Cuba during the Spanish-American War. Once all of this has been achieved, then the embargo will be lifted as mentioned in the embargo’s clause and Cuba will finally be able to rebuild their country, from the infrastructure to the economy. This is when the Cuban people will finally be free and gotten their wishes of Libertad granted. Venezuela and Nicaragua are also going through something similar. It is time to free ALL of the Americas and Cuba is where it all begins!

Please do not let this moment go unnoticed and do not stop the conversation until we see a free Cuba - Cuba Libre!
