Close St. Paul Public Schools due to COVID-19.

The Issue

Closing schools, has has been done so far, in China, Japan, Italy and elsewhere and is a proven measure that has been shown to slow the spread of disease and save lives. We need to prevent the spread of Covid-19 even if children and teens are at less risk than others. We need to flatten the curve, spread out the cases of Covid-19 over time so our healthcare system is not overwhelmed. We should not wait for somebody in the district to contract the virus and then cancel. Because of not enough test kits, only those who have been to infected countries, usually get a test. Our state probably has way more cases that what is confirmed now, due to the test shortage and very strict criteria to get tested. MDH is recommending that we employ "social distancing" and try and keep  at least 6 feet away from each other in schools. As a student in the SPPS district, there is almost no point in my day where I'm 6 feet away from another student or teacher. This is not simply because I would like school cancelled, in fact I would support the choice of online school so that we can keep on track and not have to add days at the end of the school year. This is for our safety of us and the community. Please follow the lead of other states such as Ohio, Maryland, Washington, New Mexico, Kentucky and others.
