JOJO FANS CANCEL YOUR NETFLIX SUBSCRIPTION! (F*ck Batches Save Money Movement )
The Issue
In November 2025, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the world-renowned Steel Ball Run anime revealing that the show was going to be released in 2026.
In January 2026, another trailer dropped, revealing that the "1st Stage" is going to be released on March 19, 2026.
On March 19, 2026, one episode dropped to worldwide fanfare. Anime communities were in agreement that it was probably the best 1st episode to a series in anime history, much to the chagrin of Frieren fans.
On March 28, 2026, during the AnimeJapan 2026 live broadcast, the presenter revealed that the "2nd Stage" of Steel Ball Run will release sometime “in 2026.” Everyone in my Twitch chat went silent, then started screaming for the heads of Netflix executives, demanding their JoJo Fridays.
Now we're at a loss. The fans don't know when the next episode is going to be released, millions of people across the world will not have their JoJo Fridays. And we are left to wonder if Netflix is going to commit one of the biggest blunders in entertainment history by destroying their own momentum with one of the most anticipated and greatest stories ever told in Japanese manga with their ridiculous release schedule.
That is why I, Monkeyballs, am starting the “F*ck Batches, Save Money” movement (a reference to Notorious B.I.G.) to rally the JoJo fan community and to pressure Netflix to answer and deliver our demands. We will put considerable time, effort, money, and artistic commentary and expression into motivating Netflix subscribers to cancel their subscriptions. The following are the movement's demands:
- Transparency on the release schedule - We are requesting that Netflix directly communicate with fans through social media on what the plan is for how Steel Ball Run will be released, and to stop relying on conventions and events with vague dates, like what happened at AnimeJapan 2026. Netflix’s lack of communication is creating the space for disinformation and forces fans to figure things out through posts from the Netflix Chile Instagram page about whether this will be released weekly or in batches.
- An apology and a pledge to never release batch schedules like this again- The batch releases of Stone Ocean were a tremendous blunder from Netflix, which caused the Part to lose half of its viewership and initial momentum. This caused a major blow in the show’s ability to appeal to a new audience. The fans themselves had to wait 9 months for the latter half of the season. This is the current main issue that JoJo fans have, and we want a pledge from Netflix to never release JoJo Parts in that way again and an apology for misdirecting and ignoring the fans.
- To release the show either in a full-binge model, where all episodes drop at once, or in a structured batch schedule that can replicate the momentum of a week-to-week release - We are primarily requesting that Netflix sticks with the "binge model" of batch releases, as many of their other shows do. For instance, an entire season is released on a single date. Or, to compromise, we request that Netflix uses a structured batch schedule, in which fans won’t have to wait more than two months for the next set of episodes. Stone Ocean experienced a 9-month gap between the first and second batch releases, which is exactly what we want to avoid. More information under the FAQ.
Now, I know, reader, that you may have good questions for me, like, "What leverage do YOU have over Netflix to adhere to your demands?" And honestly, I myself don't have any leverage that I can impose on the trillion-dollar tech company—but do you know who does?
YOU DO!
WE DO!
If we can rally together to cancel our Netflix subscriptions, or downgrade to a Standard Plan, and make our voices heard, I am sure we can achieve our demands.
What I will do is host events on Twitch and YouTube to cover every convention where Netflix will provide updates on Steel Ball Run. While covering said events, I will also be pushing out the message that the three demands outlined above need to be met in order to reinstate our subscriptions.
Every last day of the month leading up to every batch release date, starting on March 31, 2026, I will host a stream to promote the “F*ck Batches, Save Money” Movement to ensure that we are meeting our quota of cancelled Netflix subscriptions, and to provide the community with any new updates.
I am aiming for 10 subscription cancellations by March 31. If we meet that goal, the target will increase to 100 cancellations by April 30, and 300 cancellations by May 31. We will continue to incrementally raise our target numbers if the demands are not met.
Dates to look out for:
- April 1st, 2026: A 4-hour live stream calling for JoJo fans to cancel their Netflix subscriptions. A merch giveaway will also be hosted; free stickers will be mailed to the first 5 people to cancel their subscriptions. (details will be shared on the March 31st stream). This stream will also have a special guest, "Professor Monkey Jiang," a renowned game theorist and professor to explain why Netflix is introducing this business model to their consumers. A "Cancel Your Netflix" meter will be on the stream with goals centered around how many people cancelled their subscriptions. https://www.twitch.tv/monkeyballztm/videos
- Potential activities for every last day of the month: 4-hour streams with free giveaways for the first viewers who cancel their Netflix subscriptions, discussions like “Is Fugo a fraud?”, and showing my girlfriend a five-hour PowerPoint presentation on why Part 5 is actually peak and "Is Jojo Gay?". We will also work on getting guests and other people to the stream to keep you entertained with JoJo content.
