Waterloo Oval was founded on Gadigal land in the 1910s and has since been called home by many local sports clubs and community groups.

Currently the base for, amongst others, Redfern All Blacks RLFC, Sydney Harlequins RFC, Souths Juniors/South Sydney District Junior RLFC and Paddington District Cricket, the overall community spans over 7,000 players, family and friends.

The changing rooms, sanitation/bathrooms, storage, security and water facilities haven't been properly tended to for over 40 years.  The building is broken into every year and drastically unfit for youth players, not to mention men and women who could be using it far more frequently.

Supported by Clr Linda Scott at City of Sydney Council, the above groups call on the Lord Mayor and Council to urgently:

1. Repair and refurbish Waterloo Oval’s indoor facility (changing rooms, bathrooms, storage, drinking water provision, event space and kiosk)
2. Upgrade the Oval to a standard that suits home and visiting players of ages 5+
3. Examine surrounding trees and danger posed to inadequate lighting
4. Protecting the playing surface from dogs
