Let's SCREAM for MAMMO! WHY did I FIGHT (5) years for my MAMMOGRAM!!
During the eventful year of 2020 I was diagnosed with 2 areas of Breast Cancer within the same breast, which led to me having a Double Mastectomy. I am still healing from the process which included multiple surgeries, to include an emergency surgery due to an at fault provider. Since my personal cancer scare, I have decided to be the “messenger”. My mission is to continue to strive by bringing awareness to various communities by mentioning “Please don’t forget to get your Mammogram” to everyone I meet, even men. I feel that there are too many ladies out here in the world that lack the knowledge of taking action on having their annual mammograms to possibly save their titties and/or life. There are often times that I get a response of “laughter” as I mention this to people because they are not aware of how serious mammograms are. I have also learned that some people are not receiving their scans due to being informed that insurance does not cover these every year, which leads me to insist on patients seeking additional information from the Insurance plan they are selecting. I’ve come in contact with individuals as early as the age of 25 whom have unfortunately experienced this Breast Cancer journey.
I’m contacting you in hopes that you will help me by reaching out to your followers via social/news media outlets on spreading the awareness of the importance on getting your Annual Mammograms with the importance of Breast Care Awareness. Please feel free to reach me at any time to join your show and/or broadcasted event to share my story in hopes to save that next person(s) from possibly walking my horrific journey. This has led me to start my foundation “Tears to A Smile against Breast Cancer” a foundation to support Breast Care Awareness which highlights the Annual Breast Care Awareness month of October. My mission is to work actively year around amongst the community and virtually to promote awareness while obtaining donations and funding to support the Breast Cancer victims who are suffering from hardship! One major event is our Mix & Mingle wardrobe fundraising event, where we push for individuals and vendors to donate various new and gently used wardrobe items to include: clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. These items to then be sold via Pop-up shop and online for the proceeds of Breast Cancer Awareness. Outside of this event, we greatly appreciate any and all monetary, gift card, spa services and perishable items for events, patients, survivors and/or volunteers.
We are always recruiting for volunteers- all time and dedication is welcome and appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time; please feel free to contact me for any additional information.
The story of taking 5 years to get my mammo than being 16 late for that appointment after seeing four different oncologists, all stating the same when you had that double mastectomy, they took all your tissues. How do you know that so during that last oncologist I told her this is how it’s gonna go you do not give me a referral I will make my own appointment two days later surprise I received a phone call to schedule my mammogram. MRI mammogram as I stated yes I was late. Rescheduled from a Wednesday to the Father and Friday, another appointment now here goes to leave the clinic. By the time I get in a ride 10 minutes later I receive a call ‘you have no need for a mammogram.’ I became very aggressive. I told that tech on the phone. This is how it’s gonna go I’m gonna show up if my appointment is canceled when I arrive on Friday I guarantee you every channel in Boston will know about this. That’s how I received a mammal fighting five years to get a mammogram after ! talking to many women who have had a mastectomy and they still go for their mammogram still not seeing the dock who scheduled the referral twice for me to see her they have canceled my appointment.
